This museum is definitely worth paying a visit too. it s the perfect combination of great scenery and refined work on display. I recommend visiting it in Spring or early September to enjoy the garden's beauty. The visit really allows for a perfect immersion in Cocteau's wonderland with a video at the entrance to set up the scene and then the rooms in which he used to live. Lots of objects are on display giving a glimpse at his creative process. This place is a hidden gem for connoisseurs. Enjoy!
Excellent "look" into the life of the great Jean Cocteau.
It's a quiet place with a small but very beautiful garden, a spot full of magic which definitely deserve few hours from your life.
Very suggestive setup, that preserves most of the original rooms, furniture and objects collected/designed by the artist. Videos chosen among Cocteau's film production, paintings and drawings. A number of portraits of Cocteau made and presented to him by colleagues and friends (from Picasso to Warhol) enrich the museum. Deserves the trip.
This was our 2nd visit to Maison Cocteau - the first was just a week or two after it opened and we could see that the displays were largely the same but with some improvements and additions. If you are interested in Cocteau and his contemporaries, it's worth a visit, and the village of Milly La-Foret is lovely.
