WOW.. What a great vacation at Little Dix Bay. From the pick up in Tortola to the drop of at the dock. Then picked up and driven around showing us the property. As you enter your beach front room with the amazing Boze radio playing soft tropical music. The view is breathtaking... We loved the morning stroll to breakfast the afternoon tea. Gift shop was amazing with fine cigars, a plus for my husband. The beach was white and the water clear blue/green. Large sea turtles in the distance. It truly was a trip of a life time!

Room Tip: Beach front period!

My husband and I eloped to Little Dix in February and we both agree that it was not only a perfect vacation/honeymoon but it was the perfect place for a quiet ceremony. If you are from the states you need to get on "island time" but once you do you will enjoy the laid back pace. We had the resort help us with the marriage license and they arranged a wonderful officiant. Our suite was spacious and quiet. While we were there, it seemed like there were alot of couples and not many children. Food and service is above average. By the end of our stay we felt like "friends" with many of the staff. Rent a car and tour the island, the roaming goats are interesting. We also rented a boat for the day and got to see the island from the water. Well worth the price.

We were in Virgin Gorda for our honeymoon in 2009. I have been to a lot of beaches, even just returned from Zanzibar, and I would still rate Little Dix Bay at the top of many! The water is idyllic and the sands are so white! Our favorite thing were the complimentary boat drops. The resort has a boat and will take you to any surrounding beaches on smaller islands with an umbrella and picnic lunch if you want one. We were able to do some amazing snorkelling because of this at no extra cost.

You can go out on a sunfish or kayak at anytime and see the sea turtles that live in the bay!

We would have loved more food options as there was only one restaurant open while we were there. But the food we had was great. We were also there during the low season, so it was very nice and quiet with no kids around!

I would definitely recommend an ocean front room as it was 10 steps to the sand, but the garden views weren't far behind us!

Over the years my wife and I have visited most of the top resorts in the Caribbean (including places like Cap Juluca in Anguilla, Curtain Bluff in Antigua, Nisbet Plantation in Nevis, etc.) Little Dix Bay beats them all! It has a beautiful 1/2 mile white sand beach on a lovely protected bay, ensuring calm water. Padded lounges and shade huts on the beach are abundant and never crowded. Snorkeling off the shore is interesting with lots of fish on close-in reefs, plus some large, resident hawksbill and green sea turtles and rays. In addition, they offer complimentary drop-offs at other nearby beaches, and daily snorkeling and diving trips. Accommodations are quite comfortable, with wonderful mattresses and spacious modern bathrooms, and all are beachfront with a private patio or deck. They have two restaurants providing high quality food and imaginative menus, plus a beach grill open for lunch. The breakfast buffet has almost every breakfast item you can imagine, including an omelet station and fresh smoothie station. Their once-a-week dinner Grand Buffet is to die for, and includes grilled or cold Anegada lobster. (The food is expensive a la carte, so get the meal plan.) This is preceded by a manager's cocktail party with abundant and delicious hors d'ouevres. What really sets Little Dix Bay apart from other resorts is the service. Everyone on the staff is totally dedicated to helping the guests enjoy their stay. They are always friendly and greet each guest by name. There is frequently a staff person on the beach, providing ice water, cold towels, frozen grapes, sorbet, etc. Upon arrival, you are met with a cold drink (ordered by the driver from the airport based on your preference) and taken to your room, where you are checked in. You are asked the most convenient time for you to have your room serviced by housekeeping, and they show up as requested. This obviously starts at the top with Duncan, the GM. One day, after a brief shower, he was walking on the beach picking up damp towels and checking with guests to see if they needed anything. A short time later, I saw him at the beach grill, walking from table to table chatting with the guests and filling empty wine and water glasses. There are so many small things about the service that are done so well, and they add up to a great vacation experience. This is the one Caribbean resort that we will return to again and again. Don't miss it.

Room Tip: The resort is spread out along the beach, with each room a beachfront. Choose rooms 1 through 4 if you have walking difficulties, since these are near the restaurants and activity room.

My husband and I are in our late 30s, no kids, and went to LDB for a week and stayed in an Ocean View room. LDB is a beautiful resort on a lovely island. There were plenty of activities to keep us busy, and plenty of opportunities to just relax as well. We had a great week vacation on Virgin Gorda, but we were disappointed in Little Dix Bay resort. In the end, we didn't feel like the quality and the service matched the price that we paid during the high season. If we go back to VG, we will try out Biras Creek instead.

Things that fell short: quality of the bedding/sheets was poor, uncomfortable lanai furniture, small bathroom, beach service was inconsistent (some days we had service, but more often we didn't), the beach was never groomed or straightened up, food quality at The Pavilion for lunch and dinner was tolerable, spa treatment was nothing spectacular, and service in general was hit or miss. Some staff made you feel welcome, others made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. One of the things that bothered us the most were the 2 days in a row that we had to listen to a leaf blower and lawn mower for 5 hours each day while one person maintained the property right behind our beach chairs. We understand that the property has to be maintained, but we would suggest hiring a team of folks to knock it out in 30 minutes instead of having one person loaf around for 5+ hours. Listening to a motor run loudly for hours on end was not what I would call relaxing, and nor was it what I expected to occur at a Rosewood resort.

Things that were great: the beach drops, the bottle of rum in the room, the beach grill's great service and food, the hiking trails, the beach and the bay are lovely, the view and location of the spa, Dive BVI being onsite, the property itself is spacious and gorgeous. The fact that we didn't have to get up to save beach chairs was extremely nice.

If you are going on a romantic vacation or a getaway from the kiddos, I might suggest you look else where. LDB is really what we would consider a family resort. I think if we had gone during the summer when the prices are 1/2 of what they are during the high season, we would have walked away happier because it would have been a better value for the money. But, when you cross a certain cost threshold, another level of quality is expected, and LDB just didn't meet ours.
