We were very surprised when we arrived on the island. One of the owners met us at the airport and picked us up. We decided not to rent a car due to cost and he was extremely nice to offer us a ride to the property (even offered to stop by the supermarket to grab some food first). I initially thought the House was going to be just a guest house in someone’s backyard but it actually is it’s own property, and much bigger than the pictures make it seem. Beautiful house, very spacey and the owners were kind enough to leave essentials (water, snacks, household items) for us. We mostly just relaxed on the patio and on long bay beach, but we also walked to Grace Bay a couple times and it wasn’t too bad (45-60 mins). Would and will definitely do this again.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Patio House. The day of arrival we experienced a hiccup with our rental as the agency, Hertz, did not accept AMEX. I this location you do need a car however, Mr. Williams met us at the airport and provided us transportation back to the home. He also offered to take us to the grocery along the way, we declined (not realizing we'd need this) as well as offered suggestions that were within walking distance which was hugely helpful. We spent the first couple of days without a car (we arrived on a Saturday evening) but the beach is about 5 mins away as others have said as well as the Shoreclub where we were able to have lunch and dinner before we received our rental. The beach is very peaceful, not as touristy as say the Grace Bay Beach but sufficient. There are these little prickles along the ground and you definitely do not want these to get stuck in your feet. The home is literally 10 mins away from the touristy area. There are two grocery stores (the IGA in the Grace Bay area is similar to a Whole Foods) with plenty of items for your convenience. The owner of the home provided items necessary for your stay as well as anticipated other needs such as beach chairs. We found the furnishings, condition of the home quite comfortable and most helpful were the island guides that listed restaurant and other recommendations (Mine are Caravell, Mango Reef, Mr. Grouper's, the Crackpot (I think which Mr. Williams recommended) oh and the fish fry on Thursdays @ Bight Beach! All in all, the place was quite peaceful and felt somewhat “homey”, I would stay here again.
Wonderful place. The photos don’t do it justice. Very spacious. Close to everything. Great secluded beach in walking distance. Owner’s hospitality was refreshing.
We got off to a bit of a rough start due to this being our first trip abroad and our first vacation home rental. Lovetha was very patient with us and Mr Audley was accommodating and helpful. The home is large, open, airy, and reasonably equipped. The two decks were both wonderful and provided a great view of the Kite Surfers and the water. The beach is only a five minute walk from the house! We hope to rent again! Know before you go: The WiFi in the home is painfully slow and not strong enough to stream videos or download books. Make sure you have everything dumped into your devices before leaving. Likewise, the TV in the bedroom has minimal reception and often skips. If you like to watch TV before bed you may want to consider downloading movies and TV shows prior to arrival.
The house is big, with two large decks from which you can see or hear the beach one block away. Quiet area but very easy to get to other beaches, restaurants, and rest of Island. We hope to be back!
