We visited the Buccaneer for 5 days in April 2021. We had a relaxing stay in beautiful accommodations. With only one exception, the Staff ( front desk, restaurant, watersports, cleaning staff, concierge) were helpful, friendly, and extremely accommodating. We enjoyed all three beaches. Beaches are quiet and there is plenty of shade.. Hours were limited for the beach bar at Grotto Beach and dinner was only served until 7:30. Hope when we return it will be possible to get a late night snack and enjoy an afternoon drink at Grotto Beach.
We only left the resort one afternoon for a sail to Buck Island. Buck Island is a must for snorkelers!
It was very easy to arrange for a taxi and we were picked up right outside our room.
If you are staying by the beach. Breakfast does require a little climb.
The view from the top is breath taking and by the third day we rather looked forward to the morning hike up the hill.
Everything we ate at the Mermaid was delicious! The breakfast buffet was good, but I would not say exceptional.
Beach chairs and beach toys are plentiful. We snorkeled several times during our stay. There's stuff to see, but not the variety and colors that I remember when Snorkeling on St John.
We were already planning our return the day we checked out. The natural beauty, the comfortable well maintained facilitates. and the accommodating staff made for a memorable stay.

This is the worst place imaginable. Black mold all over the room that was painted over. The "bellman" literally said "here is your can of bug spray" when you walk into the room. The bar, that's a joke. There's no place to get a bottle of water, or buy snacks. The pool hadn't been cleaned. There's ferrel cats all over the place, they enjoy their time at the "Cat Cafe". that's not a joke. You won't find those pictures on their website. Stayed one night and flew out of there. Food is low grade, and super expensive. Save your money and go stay somewhere nice. There's no lights on property, so good luck walking around at night. Hand rails are all rusted, hope you're up on your tetanus shots! It was $654 including a $64 per night "energy surcharge". You can stay at the Ritz for the same price!

Room tip: We had their nicest room, ocean view. It came with bed bugs, broken toilet, and no water to drink.

We recently stayed here on part of our honeymoon trip. This was our first time to the islands and we couldnt be more pleased with the service we received. Fitzgerald was great during our check in, he helped us with our bags and showed us around the room. We didnt have any cash on us at the moment and were bummed we couldnt tip him. We loved the fresh flowers in our room and they even brought us a bottle of champagne as they knew we were on our honeymoon. The patio and view from our room was awesome and we enjoyed drinking our coffee out there in the morning. We never left the resort except for dinner and the boardwalk area was about a 10 minute drive and very easy to navigate. The breakfast was great every morning and Mayra down at the beach was awesome with our drinks. We felt very safe here since the entrance was guarded. We would definitely return and really enjoyed our stay.

I have been to St. Croix before, but this has been my best experience. Upon arrival we greeted in a very friendly manner. Our rooms were clean and neat. We were surprised that our ocean view was actually ocean front, and added bonus. The wifi in our room worked well

The daily breakfast that was included was great. My kids loved the food and it was nice not to worry about what we would do for the first meal of the day. We ate at the Mermaid twice and were happy with both experiences.

Having easy access to the beach and pool were an added bonus as I traveled with my mother and small children. We did have a rental car, but it was easier with all 6 of us to use the beach located at the hotel. At the beach there were plenty of towels, beach chairs and beach equipment available.

The housekeeping staff was very friendly and helpful. As we have children we did use the laundry facility that was near our room and it was available and easy to use. I did a little shopping at the stores on site and the ladies at each shop were friendly and helpful.

I will definitely be staying here again as it was such a wonderful experience.

First, be prepared for a $49/day Energy Fee plus $55/day in taxes. This added over $700 to our stay. Taxes we understand, but we certainly weren't using $49/day in energy.

Our view was beautiful and the staff they had was very friendly, but they need more staff. It was not uncommon to wait an hour or more for food or drinks. At times, we were literally unable to see a single employee while on the beach near the Mermaid Restaurant. We were told by our cab driver that he consistently hears this complaint about the Buccaneer. They were given Covid relief money to keep staff but let the staff go anyway. Once you're on-site, you have no way to get food or drinks (unless you pay for a cab) other than to wait however long it takes...

We went with two other couples. One couple had no hot water and their sink backed up. They literally had to shower in ice-cold water. The other couple's television went in and out. These issues were fixed when brought to the management's attention, but it shouldn't have happened at all at the rates we paid.

Our room was on the side of the Great House. The view was amazing but there is a giant generator or some sort of machinery off to the side. We couldn't sit on the deck and enjoy the view because of the noise of the machines. We had to keep the door shut to the deck to avoid it. If you go, make sure to ask for a room on the front of the Great House. Our friends paid the same rate but had rooms on the front with no noise from the machines.

It's a beautiful setting and the staff is friendly and helpful, but the owners need to invest in the property to make it worth the cost.

Room tip: Avoid rooms on the side of the Great House.
