My family of four rented a 2BR/1BATH apartment in April 2011 and it turned out to be the perfect place for us. The unit itself was clean, spacious, and well-appointed, though the plumbing fixtures could use some updating. We enjoyed a lovely view of the water. By far the most valuable perk about this place is the American owner Frank, a very welcoming and helpful host. He told us all of the great spots to visit, how best to get to each and, in our rental Jeep, we toured the most beautiful parts of the island based on Frank's recommendations, including fabulous snorkeling destinations and beautiful views from atop St. John's highest mountain (Bordeaux). The place is just a pleasant 10 minute walk from Cruz Bay and, of course, with a car it is easy to get anywhere. I highly recommend renting a car (either in St. Thomas, taking the car ferry to St. John or on the island itself). There are SO MANY beautiful beaches, but to get to them all in a week, you really need a car. The roads are well-paved and the signage is good. Trunk Bay, of course, is beautiful, but be sure to also check out Hawksnest and little known "Oppenheimer" beach - beautiful and secluded! The snorkeling off Leinster Bay was fabulous - sea turtles, sting rays, colorful fish, starfish, etc. Also, be sure to take a ferry over to Virgin Gorda and visit The Baths - a stunning site of huge boulders right on the beach. Though I prefer not to go to the same destination twice (so much to see in the world!), I would definitely go back to St. John and if I did I would stay at Coconut Coast again.

Room Tip: A top floor room would be a bit quieter having no guests above you.

Coconut Coast Villa was a great hotel for our vacation. The hotel was great and the room perfect (bed was a little bit uncomfortable which was minor to how great the place was)...but we want to highlight how great Liz (manager) truly took time to suggest some great places to visit, provided guidance and facilitated reservations and other activities. You could tell she really wanted us to have a wonderful vacation.

We travel often but this is the first time we took time out to write a review due to the wonderful experience we had. Would recommend this location to travelers that want to experience a great location and are willing to get some great suggestions from Liz!

Can't wait to be back!

We arrived in St John and rented a jeep, and made our way to Coconut Coast Villas. We adored the place, our balcony was right over a rocky beach that delivered the absolute most wonderful soothing sea sounds imaginable. I am not sure I ever slept better :) The room was well equipped and tidy, and we LOVED the balcony. We even grilled some steaks for dinner one evening poolside! Tom did an amazing job of pointing us at things to do & see, and, lucky for us, we did almost every one of them! He recommended a wonderful sail/snorkel trip aboard the Kekoa (very cool boat with one damn cool story) and also told us about the manta ray that had been hanging out at francis bay. These two were my favorite things, the snorkeling was SO AMAZING. And we sure did see that huge manta ray, from about 5 ft away! Oh and how could I forget his recommended hike up to Caneel hill - just walk from the villa into town and get on the trail just behind the visitor's center. Wear sunscreen, and bring h20, but this one was soooo worth it. Breathtaking. Awe inspiring.

We loved that we could come and go as we pleased, there was ample parking for us, and although we found driving on the island somewhat....shall we say... frightening, we bucked up and took it, and were able to get to places at times that made us feel like we were the only people on the whole island. You dont need the jeep to get into town, though, and that was way cool to be able to tie one on and stumble back home...

We will be back. We will stay at Coconut Coast again. Definitely. Thanks so much Tom!

Coconut Coast Villa is the perfect getaway destination on St. John. The reasonably priced units are clean, comfortable, tastefully furnished and air conditioned. Each has a fully-equipped kitchenette and covered lanai where you can take your meals while watching sailboats and ferries pass right before your eyes. There is no end to what Liz English, the charming and tireless hostess, will do to make your stay memorable and carefree. She even drove me and my 94 year old husband to the ferry at 5:30 in the morning when we were concerned that a taxi might be unreliable at that hour.

You can get to Cruz Bay restaurants via a short (5 minute) taxi ride or a doable (15 minute) walk, partially along an unpaved path. The island's north shore beaches are easily accessible by car or cab. We found renting a jeep to be a very nice convenience.

My three year old grandson had a blast in the swimming pool everyday. You will, too.

In contrast to other reviews I found this property average or worse and quite overpriced. The managers are very sweet and very helpful but the property they are left to manage is substandard. We had one room with bedroom and kitchen combined, a exterior deck looking on a rocky not useable beach and a mediocre bath and shower with some mold and spotted mismatched towels. I own and rent properties in Carmel, CA and Kauai, Hawaii and by those standards St John is vastly overpriced and this accommodation is substandard. $920 dollars for 3 nights with these conditions is not what I expect.
