During a trip to the Bahamas, we went out to Cafe Matisse for dinner. It's a little tricky to find, but driving down Shirley, it's a right onto Bank Lane. You can also see it from Bay Street just past the Gucci store.
We were greeted in front with valet parking that is free and costs only the tip. We were seated in the beautiful, romantic courtyard area. It was like a dream.
The service was top notch, comparable to other first class establishments. And the food was amazing. My wife got the spinach gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce. Usually, we worry about how strong Gorgonzola is, but the gnocchi was cooked perfectly and the cream sauce was light and delicate. I had roasted duck, which was done very well. Of course, we had to have the banana cake with pineapple and coconut sauce. It was out of this world.
It was by far the best meal we had in the Bahamas. My wife says it's the best gnocchi she's ever had and maybe even the best pasta. I thought that we've had better at Flour + Water in the Mission, but it's very close.
