The grounds at Pelican Bay are very well-kept and nice and it's walkable to most things- a marketplace with some restaurants, a taxi stand, dive shop and the beach. As a note- most of the marketplace was closed as of April 2022 and the beach is lined with abandoned hotels leftover after a business pullout post-Dorian. That said, the restaurants around the hotel that were open are good and serve decently-priced Bahamian food.
For a better beach experience, the ferry to Taino Beach runs hourly and we were able to use the beach chairs and pool free of charge and the ride over is nice and quick.
The beds at the hotel are comfortable and stay is very relaxing. Breakfast is served on a 4th floor overlook of the marina.
To get around the island it's cheaper to hire a driver or take a tour than to find someone at the taxi stand. We used Tryone and is prices are fair- 242.815.0555More
