This is a great little hotel. The room was older, but it was clean and the staff is super friendly. There is no timeshare lecture or hard sell on trip packages (but you can sign up for whatever you would like to do in the lobby and Genie is extremely friendly and not at all pushy about it).

The best part is that they have their own dive boat parked at their dock. My wife and I snuck out for a quick two tank dive and the visibility was on par with Cozumel. There were only four divers on the boat, so it made the experience much more personal and enjoyable. The best part was that we were the only dive boat at the reefs! What a gem of a place.

It is in walking distance to Port Lucaya and all of the tourist restaurants and little shops, or you can get a rental car (we did) and enjoy the rest of what the island has to offer. The Grand Bahama Shipyard is about a 30 minute trip if you have your own car; the airport is about 20 minutes. There is a grocery 5 minutes away if you don't want to eat out every night (this is what we did once we realized how expensive everything is... hey, it is an island).

Dear Don H.

Thank you for your review.
As you mentioned in your comment we received only minimal damage from Hurricane Mathew, so everything is up and running.
We are currently fixing up more rooms and giving our lobby a new look. We hope to see you back again soon so we can show you!

My girlfriend and I randomly came across Bell Channel Inn and absolutely loved our stay! The owner Genie is awesome and very knowledgable about the island and has the hook-up on everything. I highly recommend this gem of a place!

Room Tip: Just talk to Genie

Our room had a door on one side and a sliding glass door on the opposite for cool breezes blowing through. the rooms were roomy and had a nice deck with a view of the canals. A restaurant is on site that is adequate, and a bar with reasonable prices. The concierge, is knowledgeable and thorough, striving to save you money as well as guide you to events in the area. There were a few lights out and little things that really did not affect our stay there.

Room Tip: We choose the top floor as there is a nice pool that could be noisy if children were about.

I stayed 5 nights in room B5 (double, used as a single). The room was really clean and big with all comforts: freezer, big screen TV, A/C, a nice terrace with the view of the marina. Every day the towels were changed. The personnel was very kind and helpful. The lady who sits in front of the reception helped me with a lot of information and organising my dives. On the 1st floor ther is a restaurant with godd choice for the breakfast and meals at good prices. The location is not central, but the marketplace is 10-15' by easy walk. The Caribbean Divers is connected to the hotel (the boat is below the room terrace), so great location for scuba divers.
