I will start out by saying that I have stayed at this resort in January 2020 just after their hurricane and wasn't overly impressed with the resort but decided to give it another try since it has been 3 years.
I'll start out saying getting the transfer from the airport to the resort was a crap show. They told us to leave our bags and guided us to another bus. Once we arrived to the resort, it took us some time to locate our luggage. Once we located our luggage we were instructed to go to the theater to drop our luggage and get our bracelets.
We arrived early, and check-in was 3 so we were unable to check into our rooms.
We grabbed a bite at the buffet and a drink and just puttered around the resort until 3pm..
Once we were able to check in we had to take our own luggage to our room. Every other resort I have stayed on someone brings your luggage to your room. I had requested when I booked to have a room with a king bed, we didn't get that we had 2 double beds.
Our room was 1272, it was a renovated room close to the front of the resort. The room was ok the shower was a bit problematic as water would spray everywhere and make a slippery mess. The beds were moderately comfortable. There were 2 small bottles of water in the room and that's all that you go for the week. Not sure why they have a mini fridge as they do not stock it (unless you are a vip ).
The resort itself is clean, the pool was freezing cold almost unbearable, and you could never find a chair around the pool. The ocean was warm enough, and there were always chairs availible, just domt go into the vip section as you will get shooshed away. . The hot tub was closed for a few days of our stay. The pool tables were broken as well, which sucked when the weather was less than desirable. The washrooms around the resort were disgusting and the locks didn't work.
The buffet was ok, you won't starve, but it's not that tasty either. We got the special dinner (lobster and steak) one night and had to wait an hour past our reservation for it. It was tasty, but I didn't understand why they had it in the buffet. The buffet is very cafeteria like, it could use some ambiance. Staff rarely came to clean off plates and never took a drink order, which is so usual compared to every other vacation I have been on. There are 3 Ala cartes, the Mexican was tasty, and the pizza place was ok. I was unimpressed that we ordered our food and waited 75 minutes to receive our orders, which was not acceptable on my mind, and the Cafe was fairly good.
There are 2 bars, you would wait in line for drinks often, and the premium alcohol was only for VIP. They ran pit of beer 2 days of the 7 we were there. Considering I only really drink beer if I'm having drinks, that was unimpressive. The bar staff were awesome. Of course, you would come across one or two that were not very pleasant. The coffee at the lobby bar was good.
So, one thing I was surprised by was that there was no real Bahamian feel to the resort. The majority of the music that was played on the resort and in the disco was Spanish music. I would have liked to hear some Bahamian music.
Overall, it was better than the last time I stayed there. The thing is, if they just did a few things, they could make it a real great resort. But at the end of the day, I got what I paid for! Will I go back there again? Doubt it!
