Staying at My Little Place on the Hill is like being the guest of your stylish friends. Vicky and Alex, together with Sandra have created a lovely, stylish, welcoming hotel with so many thoughtful details. We spent 11 days here relaxing by the pool or out on day trips recommended by Alex, Vicky and Sandra. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were made to feel like nothing was too much trouble. Sandra is an absolute gem and a key part of the enjoyment of our stay. The weekly BBQ is a fantastic way to meet other guests over delicious food and the cocktails are a must try! Perfectly located in a rural yet easily accessible area and within walking distance to beaches, restaurants and shops for supplies.
I will be recommending to all my friends and family and we will be back!

We've been back to My Little Place On The Hill 5 times. The accommodations are great. The rooms are decorated very well and they are clean. The little kitchen is well equipped for making breakfast or lunch. The owners are also the hosts and they have become our friends over the past years. They are amazingly busy but make it seem like they are there just for you. They'll serve drinks all night but they will also call restaurants on your behalf.

We don't even think about going anywhere else for our main summer holidays anymore. When we arrive we relax instantly. This is the place to be when visiting Greece.

Initially my wife and I were apprehensive about staying somewhere so rural and off the beaten track but we took a gamble and I’m pleased to say it paid huge dividends.

Alex and Vicky’s little place on the hill can only be described as an oasis of calm and serenity.

The rooms are stylish, spacious and spotless; Vicky’s attention to detail is an ever present. The views are breath taking and above all, the people are warm, friendly and accommodating without ever being invasive. It felt more like we were visiting old friends than staying at a hotel.

Special mention also to Sandra who runs the bar. She is a little gem and nothing was ever too much trouble. The menu is small but perfectly formed and the fresh yoghurt, salads and sandwiches kept us going through the day. At night the drinks were top notch, particularly Alex’s old fashioned on the fantastic BBQ night, which is a great way to get to know your fellow guest and compare notes on places visited and destinations yet to be explored.

A car is a must but the rural setting means that traffic is almost not existent and you soon get used to driving abroad if you are a novice. The local taverna ‘George’s’ is a 15-minute walk away (a delight when there is a full moon and only crickets and cow bells for company) and serves traditional Greek dishes. Other places we visited in the evenings included an organic farm restaurant, a hill top eatery near St George’s fort and a family taverna above Avithos beach.

The walk to Avithos Beach through vineyards and olive groves is challenging but well worth it and the reward is the Cova beach bar, which has a Balearic vibe and is ideal for sunset cocktails.

We also drove to the famous Myrthos Beach and the picturesque fishing village of Assos, which was easily doable in a day. There are numerous beaches in the South of the Island to visit with easily enough to keep the most avid explorer occupied.

Alternatively, if you like to stay at home, you often have the stunning pool area all to yourself, which made us feel like celebrities in such lavish surroundings.

If you are looking for a relaxing get away surrounded by beautiful countryside, friendly people…. and of course the cats (how could I forget the cats?!!) then My Little Place on the Hill will not disappoint.

We can’t wait to visit again.

Ben and Rachael

Room Tip: If you can't get a pool view then room 6 is a good compromise

My husband, 2 children (aged 5 & 7) and I spent a wonderful week here in mid August. From the moment we arrived and were welcomed by Alex, Vicky and Sandra we felt relaxed. Our rooms were more spacious than we expected with air conditioning a welcome addition. We were also lent a fan for the second bedroom. The pool was big enough never to feel too busy with the addition of a shallow children's pool which is great for novice swimmers. The children made lots of friends and were able to safely explore the hotel grounds without supervision which resulted in more time to read books than any previous holiday with children. We loved everything about My Little Place and plan to return soon!

In the words of my children "the best holiday ever!" We visited in August and had the most amazing two weeks. The island is stunning - beautiful beaches and so many good restaurants that cater better than the UK for food allergies. My little place is a simple, chic and the perfect base to explore kefalonia. Alex, Vicky and the unstoppable Sandra make it feel really welcoming and personable. They look after you and the kids, give great recommendations and generally make sure you have a wonderful stay. Only 18 suites so nice a small but with enough other people and kids to keep everyone entertained. Lots of lovely people staying there but can be as sociable or as quiet as you like. The rooms are simple but have lovely touches and are all you need. The pool is large and gives the kids and parents room to have fun and cool off. You must hire a car as lots of places to explore. We'll definitely be back.
