We stayed at the Lauriston for one night prior to a short stay on the Isle of Arran.
The hotel is well located on the sea front.
Our room was large and had a lovely sea view although the decor and furniture was a bit tired. That said it was very clean and the bathroom had recently been modernised and had a very good walk in shower.
We had an evening meal at the hotel which was very good and reasonably priced. Our breakfast was also very good.
Special mention to the lady who checked us in. She was very friendly and made us feel welcome. She also cooked our delicious breakfast the next morning and was cleaning the rooms as we left! Unfortunately we didn't get her name but she was a real star and I'm sure she must be a very valued member of staff.
We would definitely stay at The Lauriston again and would recommend it to others.

Room tip: Rooms at the front have a lovely sea view

This hotel has great staff, comfortable , very clean good size rooms, and wonderful views. However the breakfast was disappointing in terms of the quality of the food black pudding, sausages etc were only average . We were hoping to have been able to eat breakfast outside ( especially in a time of Covid) but this was not allowed and we had to eat in a dark bar area.

The hotel is at an excellent location on the sea front. When we stayed there was a fair parked on the grass between the hotel and the beach but it closed at 8:00pm so wasn't in any way disruptive. The room was clean and comfortable with a large TV and the usual team making facilities. The bathroom was very modern, although quite small - there was a walk in shower rather than a bath. The hotel has a nice restaurant with outdoor seating too. It was really busy while we were there and it clearly attracts lots of locals which is a great recommendation for the quality of the food. We found that the menu was varied and really good and the food itself was excellent. Staff were really friendly too. The weather was great when we stayed and that was an added bonus. My experience of Ardrossan itself was that if it had been raining I might have struggle do find much to do, but that's not to take anything away from this excellent little hotel. Would definitely stay again.

I just want to give a wee quick review, food was really tasty, good sized starter's, both main dishes delicious and very filling.
I have one gripe about the price of soft drinks, a cappuccino and tea for one. Ridiculous prices for a tiny cup of coffee/ tea and two can's of coke came to nearly the same price as one of the meals.
I however can't fault the service and especially to Jackie who was extremely attentive and we will definitely be back thank you for a lovely meal.

We booked in for a drinks only booking(as asked to specify on the booking) on the website, on the 27th April, given a time limit of 1hr45m.

When we arrived we were asked for our food order and when we said we weren't eating, that it was a drinks only booking, we were informed we couldn't do that. The staff said they would speak to their manager and we offered to order some food if it meant keeping the table.

The staff came back and informed us that our booking would need to be cut short to 1h15m if we didn't order food, to which we agreed, since we had eaten an hour previous in another location.

Upon checking the website, the online booking tool had been removed so we couldn't verify our claim but it was clear other groups weren't eating and were there longer than us.
