I've stayed there two nights and everything was reall great. The owner is a very friendly and helpfull person. The location of guest house is perfect: not far from the center of Tanah Rata (ca 10 min walking) but in the nice and quite place. My room was big enough, clean and comfy; the attached bathroom was nice. There was free Wifi in whole house. The ver simple breakfast was included in the room's price. Generall very good place to stay in Cameron Highlands.

By the end of our 3-night visit to Gerard's Place, we felt as though we had been staying with family. Jay was like that favourite auntie that everyone has and always had time for a lively chat even while she was trying to do a dozen other things at once. The smile never left her face, or any of the other staff's, which is proof that these people absolutely love what they do.

A leisurely 10-minute walk will get you to the town's centre so you're close enough to all amenities. Jay puts out free coffee, tea and bread every day for light breakfasts and the small amount of rooms means you will almost always have a quiet retreat in the loungeroom or out in the garden. There is even a computer set up with free high-speed internet to use whenever you like!

On top of all these personal touches, the rooms and general property are immaculate and very modern. Some people complain about a damp or mouldy smell but you are literally in the misty mountaintops-- there will most certainly be dampness in the air; my passport curled in all sorts of directions! But this is not the fault of Gerard's, it's the Cameron Highlands. You either like it or you don't, but staying at Gerard's Place will most likely ensure you fall head over heels in love!

Lovely place to stay. Very modern and clean and great value. Owners are lovely as are other staff also and go out of their way to help. Only recommendation would be to have soap dispenser in bathroom.

A friend helped us to book our 1 night stay so we both came to Gerard's place by luck! The staffing team, Jay, Lin, Gerard etc were very helpful and friendly to make our stay as comfy and relaxed as possible. We arrived at Tanah Rata without much plan and just wanted to chill. In the end we got exactly that, not forgetting the perfect sunset view at the back of the guesthouse! The guesthouse decor reflects the owner's collection of travelling experience and is definitely is quite different from other bnb i've stayed at which is around this price range. It justmakes us feel at home! The location in tanah rata is convenient where the shop & restaurants ar just within a stroll's distance. I'll definitely stay here again during my next visit!

I'd have given a fourth star if Gerard's had cost 40 or even 50 RM a night, but in fact it cost 80 RM for a single, which is quite a lot considering: no breakfast is included, or even available on the premises or nearby; showers/lavatory are shared, and no soap etc. is provided.
The rooms were clean, but during the 4 days we were there nobody came to refresh them or change the towels or bedding. There was a wardrobe, but no hangers. There is a kitchen, but basic items, such as a can-opener or dishes, are not provided. Most guests seem to come for the hiking, as we did, and this being the rainy season, it means people have wet boots and clothes, but there are no faciltiies for drying them. There are no safe boxes in the rooms, which are all at ground level, so we felt the need to carry our passport etc. around with us all the time.
These and similar little things all together leave the impression that you're not quite getting value for money.

Room Tip: Well, not room 6, since the wondow catch is broken, and being at ground level, anybody could get in.
