This is a great little restaurant that you could easily miss due to it's size and small frontage, but I can highly recommend it! We have been eating there for the past few years when holidaying in Ao Nang, and the food is always superb. In fact my wife and I have literally just got back to our hotel after eating there tonight! The Tempura, Penang Curry and Chicken and Cashew nut stir fry we ordered were as good as we've had anywhere! It is straight across the road from the Vogue resort, by the way, just in case you have trouble finding it.....

A brimming Dutch family enticed us to seat at this restaurant as we passed, boasting it to be the finest in Ao Nang. An ambitious statement indeed, given the boundless competition street-side & the extremely rugged dining area inside. If you are out to 'wow' a new date - forget it; if you are out to spend lots of cash on a table overlooking the sea, forget that too... If your purpose is to find the friendliest service - never pushy, most incredible food - fresh & enchanting & so reasonably priced it's a sin... do NOT pass this venue by.

We were delighted with little restaurant. The small bambo huts were a little uncomfortable but the owner was so delightful, friendly and the food was great. Large portions, tasty and very very affordable. A huge selection of chicken, pork, beef, seafood prepared in numerous ways. Seafood on display was fresh and cooked to perfection. Pad Thai lovely, salads fresh. We ate there every day and recommend it ! Western dishes also available like hamburgers etc.

Provided you don't mind roughing it out a little sitting under the bamboo huts, this little place surprisingly served some of the best Thai food we have tasted. The pork Massamam curry was delicious and the Tomyam Kung was simply one of the best ever, loaded with fresh shrimps and mushrooms. The steamed fish with lemongrass, lime and garlic sauce was the only slight disappointment. The fish was fresh but their version was more of a blanched rather than the typical steamed with fire underneath version, so we missed the typical soupy gravy bubbling over the heat. Maybe we were comparing too much with the other version eaten in another place in Bangkok. We had several meals here over the next couple of days. All at a good price with a large plate of complimentary fruits thrown in. Service could be a little slow at times and it was explained to us that they keep minimum staff during low season. Nevertheless, it was always service with a smile.

Did not eat inside, that is why did not mark it as terrible...

Luck Yim is situated between at least 10 restaurants in a row. I discovered it in Tripadvisor & followed blindly for a dinner one night. And this is exactly what happened... Me and my husband stood right in front its gate, there was no one except one person eating with a sad face, not much light, no sound, very basic sitting arrangement, only one person working inside, its lifeless! we looked left & right, the picture changes, typical thai restaurants, welcoming & smiling people, showing off the sea food that they offer, music, hustling bustling with tourists and local people, music.... and we decided no to go inside the sad looking Luck Yim! its price range moves below 100 TBH while the neighbor charges below 250 THB, not a big deal if you look at them side by side!
