Had been to this pub/hotel when we were last here a few years ago. Seems to have changed with hotel more prevalent. Booked a table and expected to be in bar but we were in small hotel restaurant room. Nice menu- not massive but good choices. Braised chicken breast for me and chicken salad for my wife. Food good. Young waitress very attentive - in fact we were reminded of being looked after by waitresses in Thailand she was so good. We had a really nice evening

Pretty booked for 2 nights to join friends who were on Anglesey for a couple of weeks holiday. We were pleased with our choice of hotel. There is a decent size car park at the side of the hotel/pub. Check in was at the bar it went smoothly a day we were shown to room. Clean and comfortable if a little compact. Nice comfy double bed. En suite was small but adequate with a very good shower. Nice towels and toiletries provided. Wardrobe is 2 hanging rails and there is a flat size screen TV on the wall. Usual tea and coffee tray. WiFi in room OK. Good selection of drinks including cask ale at the bar with good friendly service. Average prices for the area. £3.10 for a pint of real ale. Excellent breakfast. both mornings. Would stay again if in area.

Mother's day lunch was good value and tasty. In addition to the classic Sunday lunch options the regular menu was also available. This was a really nice touch - not everyone likes a roast dinner! The restaurant is quite small with enough space for about 25 covers, but it was clean, bright and airy. The home-made chips were particularly nice, and a good portion was served. The classic roast dinners were also good, and sensible portion sizes were served.
Staff were very nice, and seemed to be happy in their work.
This Pub / Hotel is a little tucked away, but well worth visiting if you're in the area.

Room tip: I didn't sleep here - only used the restaurant, (this is why I only gave average for sleep quality).

Just returned from a 2 night stay after a family get together on Anglesey. The California provides a good base for exploring the island being reasonably central. It was our 2nd visit to the place and on both occasions we have been very happy with the cleanliness and comfort offered. This time we were in room 2 and I have to comment that the bathroom is snug. The shower, however is excellent and the towels are good quality. Our visit coincided with the anniversary of the pubs reopening and as a result of this Saturday night was extremely noisy until the small hours. This was unusual since it normally quietens down after 11.00 p.m.
Breakfast is very good and they catered for 14 of us on Sunday night providing very good food and service. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and we wouldn't hesitate to return. Thank you all.

For a village pub and restaurant this place excels. The menu is as expected for such an establishment but the service is superb - I forgot they finished cooking early on Sundays and was amazed when the owner turned out late just to cook a meal for me! Call that personal service or what. I'd specified a single room and was perfectly happy with what I got. Clean and comfortable and quiet once the Saturday live entertainment ended - I had been forewarned. Every staff member was kind and friendly but professional standards were evident throughout. There is a huge car park and the place is ten minutes from the east coast in one direction and Anglesey's famous art gallery in the other. And there's even a nature reserve round the corner! Proper value for money.
