“Small Example but Worthy!”

These cave paintings are very interesting though they don't have the size or the imagery of their larger cousins further south. However, they are so easy to visit and in such a beautiful area full of life that I highly recommend seeing them on your drive south or north.

North of catevina three miles and catevina is THE place to stay if near there at night. Great cave paintings, lots in area and in a semi river bottom area. Worth seeing.

From the California border and for 600 miles south, there are spectacular rock carvings and colorful rock paintings. These are thought to be at least 10,000 to 13,000 years old. They are leavings of the first peoples who entered the Americas. Many are close enough for the traveler to find themselves. The really special ones are further in.There are certified guides at many of the larger towns onthe way down the Baja peninsula. Where they are shaded from the sun, these paintings are very colorful. The drawings are accurate depictions of people, animals and sealife. If this type of travel interests you, it is a must-see. Best time of year is from late October to early April.

The coordinates on the trip advisor map/directions were totally wrong.
It took us to a trash dump in the town of Ensenada.

I guess you will need to use other directions to find the cave paintings. I think it is actually a number of hours away.

These old rock paintings are losing their lustre, but are still worth the trip to see. The only other similar paintings that I am familiar with are above Loreto
