It's a 20-minute drive down a gravel/dirt/sand road (or a 21-minute bike ride!) to arrive at La Picazon right on the beach on the Sea of Cortez, so you really have to want to go there. But, if you do, you'll be rewarded with friendly, upscale service and some of the best seafood dishes in Loreto (actually, it's 6 miles outside of town).
My husband ordered the shrimp wrap and it was pretty amazing, really luscious. I had the catch of the day, Parrot Fish a la Picazon, a buttery broth of white wine with thinly sauteed onion.
We were barely able to finish the meal, but our server insisted that if we didn't try her flan, we would always regret it. So, we ordered a serving to go. My husband is a flan aficionado and we both agreed, best Flan EVER!
The restaurant is directly on the beach with killer views of Isla del Carmen and her little sister, Isla Coronado. The backdrop of the Las Gigantas mountain range is pretty spectacular as well.
Plan to take your time and soak up the view.
NOTE: small dogs are welcome in the restaurant; larger dogs are not
