For years, we have enjoyed brunching in Tijuana relishing the wonderful choices and their good food. With the wonderful surge of Baja-Med restaurants and Tijuana's successful growth in this area, we were disappointed in our latest trip to an old favorite, Azulejos Restaurante (now known as La Huerta) in the Camino Real Hotel. This location has always been a little noisy but the great service and food overshadowed that on this visit.
While the staff is courteous and friendly but, coffee and sparkling wine were not forthcoming. No problem, we served ourselves. The egg bar remains a good standard while the entrees lined up before the egg bar were lacking in "sabor" with the prime rib juicy but chewy. The presentation was good; the taste and tenderness, were not. The seafood was good and so was the fruit bar. As always, we like the juice station for freshly made all natural fruit juices.
We will be back to see if this was a fluke experience but first we will re-visit some of the other choices for brunch in Tj.
