I love that this hotel is situated close to everything. Even when taking a cab to one of the Marina's, the cost was small. The room that was booked for us had two double beds, and as we were unable to get a room with one King bed, we decided to upgrade to the Master Suite on the 23rd floor. Upgrading to a higher room is something we have never done before, and although there was a larger cost involved to upgrade, we were not sorry that we did. We viewed the master suite before making the final decision. The master suites are BEAUTIFUL, with three large rooms having Oceanview, Jacuzzi, and large BALCONY. This hotel needs more rooms with balconies. The grounds are beautiful and green. The swimming pools are warm and inviting. Beach is very rocky, but one can still enjoy walking on the beach. The vendors are not bothersome. We did not like the lunch or supper buffet as there was not enough of a selection. The hotel was not full capacity, and therefore the buffet was closed down two days after arriving, allowing guests to book the ala cartes as many times as they wanted to. I enjoyed both the Italian and Mexican. Food and Service was great, and the drinks that are made at the ala cart restaurants are much better than the drinks made during the day. We didn't like the pina coladas at this hotel, but the miami vice drinks are now one of our new favourites. If you order room service, there is a $5.00 charge ever time it is delivered. Room Service food is GREAT. The time share sellers did not bother us after we politely told them we were not interested. If they did talk with you, it was only because new staff had come on duty and they didn't know you had already been approached. If you take a cab, please make sure you have the correct change. Cab drivers do not need to be tipped, and if you give them a larger bill, don't count on them giving you change back, as they tell you they don't have any. If you need to make change, don't go to the front desk. The front desk never seems to have change but the BELLBOYS do. We found that some of the staff aide in reserving loungers for some of the guests. This is really too bad and very disappointing to see. However, we could always find a spot as the hotel wasn't at its busiest. I would have to say that the beach area that the hotel ropes off is one of the smallest areas I have ever seen. It would also be nice if the hotel invested in some lounge mats as the loungers are hard with just your towel. I noticed that although there were a few kids, majority of the guests during our stay were over the age of 25. Puerta Vallarta is friendly and safe. Take a walk on the Malacon in the evening as it will not be as hot. The weather is awesome, day and night. Unforgettable. Can't wait to return the second time around.More
