A normal size room with two full beds. Working A/C. Flat-screen TV (that we never turned on). RIGHT ON THE BEACH. Very friendly staff.
Firm mattresses (some people may say that they are too hard but we loved them - no back pain in the morning).
You can take taxi if you want to go to the city center or you can walk (20 - 25 minutes walk).
Clean beach and low waves.
Pretty good food in the restaurant.

Hotel Mexicana is a nice clean no frills hotel. The drinks in the bar are just ok, but the package comes with breakfast. You can order off the menu and there is plenty of variety. The beach here is fantastic!

We would have liked it better if the rooms had refrigerators.

All in all Villa Mexicana is a good value.

First the pro's:
The staff, everyone of the workers are so nice and friendly, always have a smile and an hola!
The location, can't get any closer to the beach!
Con's:
The price increase, we've stayed at Vm since 2009, we've seen the upgrades (painting, flat screen tv's, new tile in the showers, this year some new pool loungers and railings into the pools) about 5 years ago they started charging for oceanfront rooms, and last year they raised the nightly rates...We get it, rates need to go up at some point. Now they're going to raise them again, for what?? Same old matress', same old towels and bedding, no fridges, smelly air conditioners. I can't believe they can justify $180 a night, $1000 pesos a day for alcohol, $1000 pesos a day for breakfast...really?? We'd be better off not doing breakfast and buying a breakfast or two separately. And I feel bad for those who don't drink...yep they still pay that $1000 pesos a day for two!!
MANY of us returning customers can't believe that they are pricing us right out of there, sad because I know that the staff really looks forward to our return! I'm afraid this was our last year at Vm...cheaper accommodations elsewhere!!

This is the first time in 11 years that we have stayed in Beach Suite 1!. We had our small children with us, ages 12 and 9. It was amazing to let them just walk straight out to the beach and play with new friends that they had met there
Villa Del Sol is still under construction but never was any noise or disruptions.
Food was amazing, Service even better.
I want to give a shout out to Gustavo the general Manager. His staff is wonderful, all the time, not just some of the time.
Eddieberto, Laura, Diego, Juan, Flaco, Felipe and all the ait staff at the restaurant.

Room Tip: We like BS3 for a couple BS12 for family or BS1.

Friendly staff, lots of beach chairs, multiple pools, free drinks (if you opt for that with your reservation), clean rooms and just steps away from the beach/ocean. The front desk folks were always helpful with arranging our taxis and gave great recommendations for the local restaurants. We would stay here again
