After three different trips, where we walked past this place over and over again, we finally decided to give it a try on our last night. I'd assumed it was probably very much like all the other restaurants on Adelita - they're all okay, some great, but most have very similar menus and "Specials". Wow, were we pleasantly surprised.
We sat out on the street, and enjoyed some live musicians playing to the crowd. We'd already had an appy at another spot, so we just ordered mains, but the server brought us a sample appy to try (I can't recall what it was called but it was delicious). For our main courses, I had the seafood penne. The portion was a bit small, I thought, and the flavours could have been a bit more intense, but overall it was a lovely natural tomato flavour, with lots of sauce and a small variety of perfectly cooked seafood. I'd tried similar and a couple of other restaurants (was craving pasta for some reason), and this was by far and away the best. Hubby had shrimp tacos, which he orders fairly often - and he reported they were the best he's ever had. They had more of a modern look if you will - like something you'd get at an upscale restaurant at home. We had a nice red wine by the glass, and finished with the coconut creme brulee, which was out of this world good! The service was top-notch and we vowed to return promptly next time we're in the area.
