Description: At El Bajío we try to make art and culture being noticed and enjoyed by eating the magnificence of traditional Mexican cuisine. We provide a space in which the most diverse dishes of the traditional Mexican cuisine coexist, starting with the delicacies of Carmen "Titita’s" homeland of Veracruz such as the anise gorditas, the filet of fish Veracruz-style and the papantecos tamales, as well as typical dishes of northern Mexico, including the pride of the house: carnitas Michoacán-style, as well as other delicacies from Yucatán, Puebla and Oaxaca, to mention a few others.

This was a recommendation from a friend who travels to Mexico City frequently. The food was traditional Mexican in a comfortable, casual atmosphere. The carnitas and lamb barbacoa were succulent and delicious. Order by weight. A number of tortillas, salsas, cilantro, and chopped onions accompany each order of meat. Extras such as black beans, roasted cactus (nopales), or guacamole are available a la carte. The less than stellar service was the only issue during our meal.

Came here for lunch and to watch the Formula 1 race. Arrived around 1pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was pretty empty. By the time we left the restaurant around 3pm it was completely full with families and some large groups. There are two stories and the restaurant feels very spacious. It is beautifully decorated and all of the main walls were covered in traditionally embroidered colorful tapestries and other decorations. The food was delicious, we had sopes, carnitas tacos, an order of guacamole, and our favorite were the empanadas de platano (banana empanadas filled with beans. Would definitely come back and recommend to anyone looking for a place to eat in Polanco.

Mexico City is a tough town for English only speakers that are vegetarian. Our group came here to try to please all and we were not disappointed. The carnivores had duck, pork, lamb, chicken and tongue. Our vegetarian had several dishes that were good, not necessarily great. Our thought with all the food was everything other than the mole was a bit bland. We did feel the atmosphere is great and the service was decent. Things slowed down regarding our server when he got a group in the back, but all was still ok. Our lack of Spanish understanding was not a problem this night, we had a great meal and certainly felt it was a nice evening.

We had a fantastic meal, including the Formula 1 which includes appetizer, entree, dessert and a glass of tequila. Very reasonable prices. The waiter struggled a bit with English but go help from another server. Excellent meal in the hotel zone.

We had a late breakfast here one weekday. Whilst the service was friendly and the prices were very reasonable, our orders came out such a long time apart that one of us had finished before the other even got their meal.
Despite that the food was tasty and decent sizes for the price. I would try again on the basis that everyone else seemed to have a perfect meal!
