The decor in the rooms was beautiful. Marble bathrooms, wooden floors, high ceilings and modern appointments make this a comfortable place to stay. The roof has a breathtaking view of the city. There are also coffee makers in the room and I love having a cup of coffee when I wake up in the morning. The hotel has a lovely, hacienda design. I love it!

Room Tip: I loved the Junior Suite. It had lots of room.

I stayed at Hotel Casa Antiugua twice during a recent visit to Oaxaca, and would happily stay there again. The service was excellent, with at least one or two members of staff speaking good English and being exceptionally helpful with such things as organising taxis, and helping with enquiries about Oaxaca. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the wifi is pretty good too. The location is excellent, convenient to everywhere you'd want to go in Oaxaca. The rooftop terrace is a superb place to relax and enjoy a drink or work on your computer, and has expansive views across the city and to the hills.

Room Tip: Rooms toward the back are quieter, as there is quite a bit of street noise at night.

Our trip was a last minute decision so most of the nice hotels I know did not have availability. I came across Casa Antigua and after reading the reviews, it all indicated that it was a nice hotel but the published rate did not match with that criteria (very low compared to similar category hotels) I was skeptical but really did not have much choice than to risk it.
I must say that we were greatly surprised!!
The staff is super friendly and resourceful, specially Edgardo. The rooms are indeed dark but super quiet at night. Take into account the hotel is in downtown Oaxaca and in one of the main streets.
The bedroom, linens bathroom and towels are very clean.
The location is superb. You have all the main interests at walking distance from the hotel.
It has a very nice rooftop terrace.
We did not have any meals at the hotel restaurant but breakfast seemed to be the most popular meal with guests.
I think by all means Casa Antigua gives you much more than what you payed for.
It's a hotel I will surely come back to!
For us it was good that children under 12 are not allowed. That means less noise at night and early morning. :)
The hotel has Wifi but does not work all that good inside the rooms, because of the thick walls. It's just a matter of going 2 steps outside your room and the problem is fixed.

Room Tip: The rooms on the second floor and back patio are best. Specially the Santo Domingo suite.

Pleasant staff. Interior rooms have windows only onto the patio. Spacious, but a bit dark. Trade-off of light vs. noise.. Clean. Toilet/shower doors don't give much privacy. Did not use the restaurant. Parking will cost you $140 pesos a day extra. Very close to cathedral, tourist corridor, main square. Next door is a great handicraft store with articles made by women.

Room Tip: Inner courtyard rooms have little outside light, but no street noise

Located about midway between the Zocalo/Catedral and the Santo Domingo plaza, the hotel location is ideal for tourists and gourmands (like us). Our room was off the street so that noise was not a problem, even during the raucous Guelaguetza festival. The room was spacious, the bathroom beautifully tiled and arranged so that two could use it at the same time. The cheery restaurant features Oaxacan, Mexican, and Western fare for breakfast. The reception and restaurant staff were courteous and efficient. Free wifi worked well most of the time, with occasional slow periods. Cellphone service (outside the hotel's control) can be spotty inside the thick walls; better outside. While perhaps priced higher than some other small hotels in Oaxaca, this hotel is well worth the comfort and convenience.
