Hotel CasAntica is a great hotel that is easy on the wallet, but provides unique rooms with character, friendly service, and some excellent amenities. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and were always a delight to talk with. The location is perfect for anyone visiting Oaxaca - you can do so much right from the door step. There is valet parking, and they staff were always quick to pull the car around for us when we needed it to go out an explore attractions outside the downtown core. We found the wifi was not always available in our rooms, but was great in the many common/sitting areas scattered around the hotel.

Room Tip: If you are visiting during a festival or holiday, ask for a room at the back of the hotel to avoid some of the street noise.

This hotel has a great location for the main square in Oaxaca. The rooms were pleasantly comfortable and had everything you'd need. The only frustrating thing was that the wifi didn't work in the rooms and barely worked in the atrium/restaurant. Also the atrium and pool were very echoey so there was quite a lot of noise. I slept with ear plugs. The pool is very small so you can't do lengths in there but it was nice and refreshing in the hot weather.

Casantica is a beautiful hotel with a gracious staff. The rooms are NOT small! Whoever wrote the reviews that the rooms are small has not been the Europe. We were worried about a small room so we booked the suite which was HUGE. You could park a car in there - perfect size for a family or large group. We also looked at other, regular rooms while we were there and we thought they were also very large and would have been perfect for both of us - we did not need the suite, for sure.

Being in the suite on the top floor made the stay very quiet - our room overlooked the pool and it was very quiet, day and night, even during Guelaguetza. The room had strong AC (not really needed in the cool Oaxaca nights) and doors and windows that opened all the way, two small balconies (open to the sky at night!) & a decent fridge. The only negative was that the WIFI was temperamental and inconsistent. Also being on the top floor there were lots of stairs, there's no elevator - not a problem for us but anyone with walking issues would need a ground floor room.

The hotel is located a couple of blocks from the Zocalo and there is a little tienda about 2 doors down from the hotel to buy bottled water, and there are ATMs on two corners (note these two don’t' have good fees but they are convenient). We couldn't have asked for a better location. We would definitely stay again but in a regular size, smaller room. Highly recommended!!

Hotel Casantica promised to be a lovely hotel, in the heart of the city. The location was excellent, blocks from anywhere we wanted to go. The restaurant was a 5-Star experience and the waitstaff went above and beyond. The issues we had were with the manager of the hotel, Angelica. She moved us from one room to another (no reason given) and the room we were moved to was even smaller than the original room, with no place for our clothing or suitcases. It was a single, and given we were 2 people, this made no logical sense. When I went to the front desk to ask to be moved to a room more suitable for 2 people (like the original room we had), the clerk attempted to assist me. Then Angelica stepped in, and said they had no other rooms available. This was an obvious lie, and I was forced to challenge that statement. In the end, we were given a room that was meant for 2 people (at an upcharge).

Throughout my week at the hotel, I found every other employee at the hotel to be wonderfully helpful and friendly, the room to be clean, food outstanding, and location as described. Angelica alone is the reason for the 3 stars instead of 5 stars. Her negative attitude and resistance to help the guests (not just me) makes me question why she's in a service industry.

I spent four nights at this hotel with my family. We arrived around noon which was way ahead check-in time. However, they were nice enough to give us our reserved room early. The hotel is beautifully decorated and very well kept. It has a charming court. My kids enjoyed the swimming pool. Our plan included a delicious cooked to order breakfast at the quaint hotel restaurant. The free wifi worked well in my room. The hotel's location is also a big plus. All of Oaxaca's central attractions are within walking distance. Be advised though that the rooms are a bit small. We had a room with 2 beds. The beds were only about 15 inches(38cm) apart and the space between the beds and the walls is even smaller. Another downside was that our room had virtually no windows. I say virtually because it did have a small window that opened into a small atrium about 8 feet by 6 feet. Unless you know the people in the next room (or want to get to know them) the curtains are kept closed all the time. Nonetheless, the hotel has so many more pluses that I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Request a room that faces the inner patio. If you like it quiet request a room in the back.
