I stayed with two friends at Hostel Miramar for 3 nights in July 2010. We were greeted promptly by Frida, and we were offered a place to store our belongings because we had arrived before check in and the room was being cleaned. My friend felt sick upon our arrival (after a 9 hour bus from Puerto Escondido), and Frida offered her something to drink. While our friend relaxed in the family's home, Frida showed us a book of different things to see in and around San Cristobal. Manuel spent time with us each day, talking to us about the city's sights, history, or life in general. Frida and Manuel made this hostel so great. Our room was clean with cleaning service each day. We were provided towels and fresh sheets. The room was a little small, but it was just what we needed for a place to sleep between our days of adventure in this great city. San Cristobal was an amazing city, and the Hostel Miramar is located only about 6 blocks from the city center. It was easy to walk to several markets, etc. from this location. Cabs are also very available outside of the hotel, and they typically only charge 25 pesos. There is a kitchen area available for guest use, and although we didn't use it many other people did and they found it to be sufficient. Manuel and Frida helped us to arrange a tour to Cañon Sumidero, which I recommend seeing. They arranged pick up from the hotel which was great! The Hostel Miramar was not luxourious, but it was certainly a cozy and safe feeling place. We enjoyed our stay very much as 3, college students traveling Mexico. I would recommend this hotel without a doubt!!
