I came to visit the museum. It was interesting and my favourite part of the museum was all the photographs. However I found it slightly underwhelming, but probably because I had already been to quite a few different museums on Mexican culture before reaching this point.

Fabulous value that is under marketed but may be the best value in the area. Nice suites, beautiful acreage covered with flowers, trees, art and indigenous artifacts from the real Indian Jones-type man, Frans Blom. Steps from the hot spots of San Cristobal. Excellent food, bar, and rooms. Parking and a walled compound.

This is one of my all-time favorite museum experiences. This former home of Danish archeologist/engineer Frans Blom and his wife photographer, journalist, and the Swiss German journalist and environmental activist Gertrude Duby Blom. Currently this site operates a hotel, museum, and research center run by the Asociacion Cultural Na Bolom, a non-profit organization devoted to the protection of Lacandon Maya and the preservation of the Chiapas rain forest. The home was formerly a dilapidated monastery when the Bloms rebuilt around the interior courtyard and renamed their home Na Bolom, the House of Jaguar. The personal library is still available for on-going research, continuing the goal of the Bloms, to have Na Bolom continue to serve as a cultural, social, and academic center. This couple and their love and affection for the Mayans and their forest environment is truly inspirational. This place is not to be missed.

Room Tip: We did not stay at the hotel, but the museum spectacular.

The colonial vibe of this historic place is one of kind. Really friendly staff and beautiful surroundings! We stayed here for three nights which was an absolute joy. Thank you Na Bolom and of course Frans Blom ;) the founder of this place if understood it correctly

The hotel is in the museum and you get a free tour so you can't have a better way to see Casa Na Bolom than staying here. The hotel is clean and functional but basic. I highly recommend it! Make sure that you put your breakfast in the bill of the hotel and that you tell the people at checkout that breakfast is included. I did not do that so ended up paying for breakfast.
