This was the best value for our 12 days in cancun. We had a full kitchnette with plenty of stuff to use and cook. Best savings and you dont feel like crap eating tons of food at all inclusives. Staff was great. Service was fabulous. If we called front desk for anything like replenishments toilet paper, towels, etc it was brought within 10 minutes and they even call us to make sure all was satisfactory. Beach and pool were gorgeous. Lots of beautiful white sand! We will be back an recommend to anyone!

We spent 9 nights with our teen, college student, and adult daughter. This was our second trip to Lagunamar and first vacation since the beginning of the pandemic.
The resort is just as beautiful as ever. The Mercado is well stocked and serves Starbucks as well as groceries and deli items. The fitness center is well appointed and has added TRX equipment (medicine balls, kettle bells) since our last visit. Due to Covid, only the main pool and hot tubs are open, and the Viento restaurant is the only dining option. However, the restaurant bent over backwards to accommodate requests including off menu requests on multiple occasions. Happy Hour 2 for 1 drinks from 4-5. No housekeeping due to Covid but all needed supplies were promptly delivered. Mask policy was appropriately enforced i.e. wearing politely requested while moving through the resort but not while seated around or in the pool or while dining. Covid testing was scheduled by our concierge and was conveniently performed at the resort by a nurse with results available within 10 minutes. Overall, guests were treated with such warmth and kindness and it is clear the staff is working very hard to ensure a wonderful experience for guests and to regenerate the tourism industry after a long pandemic. 30% occupancy clearly presents a hardship for their bottom line but it does make for a lovely uncrowded stay. A few staff members of note: concierge Gabriela was charming and proficient in meeting all our needs, answering our questions, and helping suggest and schedule wonderful outings; our favorite poolside server was Robert, who greeted us all by name and remembered all our favorite drinks; Juan Carlos the Bonvoy Ambassador was an excellent problem solver and helped us navigate any issues that arose; and doorman Gabriel was just so charming and welcoming and expertly managed our transportation needs and greeted us as we came and went.
*Our ONLY disappointing experience of the entire trip had nothing to do with Lagunamar, but word to the wise: the Cancun airport is a disaster. We departed Lagunamar 3.5 hours prior to our flight with all required documentation, had already checked into our flight, and paid for our checked bags. We barely made our flight! Leave earlier than you think necessary*

Day 4 into our trip and truly say the Westin has done a great job in making you feel safe during a pandemic. You are stopped from walking in the front doors until you have a mask on and temperature check. They do go over mask requirements. The elevator states one family only but 90 percent of the time of people are in the elevator they tell you if they feel comfortable sharing the elevator or not. Obviously people are not wearing a mask in the pool so when you get out of the pool and walk to your chair, you will not have a mask on. Certain people do give a look or make a comment. Also when walking to the beach to take a dip, you will not have a mask if going in the water. I think the property is doing a great job enforcing the masks and Covid protocols when and where it is possible. Right now, only one restaurant on the property is opened and the food and service are great. The market and Starbucks are fully loaded and a great benefit. Directly across the street from the hotel is the mall with high end shopping and a ton of great restaurants.

We are on Day 3 of our 7 day stay. The service is fantastic. The Viento food quality has significantly improved since our last 3 visits. The usual arrival visit with the concierge now includes scheduling a covid test for your return flight, and you’ll be asked to sign up for the optional time share presentation to earn a $100 usd credit to your stay. So, it’s not check in and go straight to the beach, plan on 30 minutes for check in and signing several covid paperwork policy forms then spend more time with the personal concierge. Cleaning in the common areas and room is excellent. My only complaint is the lack of face mask enforcement. We signed multiple forms upon arrival promising to adhere to the requirement of wearing face masks at all times while in transit on the property. The check in receptionist also very clearly stated the mask policy. Yet, we’ve encountered multiple people walking through the pool area, restaurant and walkways without a mask. My advice for Mgmt: Reword the signs everywhere from saying “please wear a mask” to “masks covering nose and mouth are mandatory”. Also, empower employees to issue reminders. There were 15 people in the hot tub that clearly states 4 people Max. Certainly not the hotel’s fault that people are ignoring pandemic protocols. But, I’m watching an employee escort an unmasked couple to beach lounge chairs after they walked but many people in the pool area. FYI Covid tests are the viral antigen (acceptable for us entry), but not PCR. Cost is $27 usd per person. Concierge will schedule you within 72 hours of your return flight. Hearing that results are emailed to you typically 12-18 hours after taking the test. Haven’t taken our covid tests yet obviously and will update this review if anything changes. Also, buildings 10-14 are closed, the hotel is limited to 50% occupancy and was at 38% when we arrived at the start of a US a holiday/long weekend.

Amenities are fantastic, especially the gym/spa area. Aldo and Regina were very helpful and kind. Would highly recommend this hotel! The arena sports bar was very nice with fun drinks and best guacamole I’ve had thus far in the trip!
