My niece and I stayed at the ME by Melia from October 1-5th.
We got a great deal through NWA World Vacations for $630 pp which included our airfare, room and a $100 meal voucher and a $100 spa voucher.
We got into Cancun early and we found our Worry-Free vacation rep and had a private transfer to the hotel.
Check in was a breeze (and we got a welcome glass of sparkling wine!) as we had pre-paid, so we were in our room probably within 10 minutes of getting to the hotel.
We were in an ocean view room - 628 with two queen beds. Nice, modern and simple decor - which I like very much, with a color palate of whites and browns.
Standard furnishings.....There was a table and two chairs in front of the floor to ceiling windows (no balcony, sadly), a chest with the mini bar/fridge (by the way, there is no room to put anything in the fridge), coffee maker, etc and a closet with drawers and plenty of space to hang stuff.
There's a safe in the closet and an iron and ironing board in there as well - which we used every day.
The bathroom is a lot of tile and granite, there's a rain shower head in the shower (no tub) and Aveda products, and a small hair dryer. If you have thick hair you may want to consider bring a full-size dryer from home.
We never had an issue with our room not getting cleaned and they always did a nice job.
We only had one day where the shower ran for 5 minutes before it was warm enough to get in....but it wasn't a big deal.
The only problem I'd say we had was with the air conditioner. Even though the thermostat said 65 degrees, we had a travel alarm clock with a thermometer on it that always read between 76 - 78 degrees. It was usually warmer in our room at night than it was outside!
We called the front desk and maintenance was up to our room within 10 minutes. They had to get some tools and came back within 20 minutes as they stated - and had it fixed within another 10 minutes. It never did get down to 65 degrees....but we were very happy with 68-70 degrees.
OH! Almost forgot....free internet in your room. They said you could actually bring your laptop out to the pool and it would still work - though I didn't try it. I never had a single problem with connectivity. What a great perk!
The hotel is very well laid out - very simple and beautiful. It's open with tons of sitting areas and sheer curtains. At night it's even more beautiful!
The spa is fantastic, there is a free E-Cafe so if you don't bring your laptop you can check your emails on the hotel computers,
there is a business center, the Rose bar and then two restaurants - Silk and Salt.
We had breakfast at Salt and dinner one night at Silk - both were very good. The breakfast was spendy at $28 pp, but the Teppanyaki dinner with sushi for both of us including several drinks was under $100, which I thought was very reasonable.
We at lunch one day at the Beach House restaurant - again really good....and then we often ordered snacks at the pool. Great quesidillas and the ceviche was awesome as well. We didn't have one bad dish our entire stay.
The pool is amazing and because it was low season, we almost had the run of the place. I think the busiest day by the pool there was 30 or 40 people there....that's it! Lots of chairs and beds at no cost as well as bali beds (you do have to pay for those.)
There are a couple infinity pools which are beautiful and the water in the ocean is a spectacular shade of blue. Really lovely.
There is music playing pretty much constantly, but never too loud and it never got annoying.
The location is ideal as it's literally a 5 minute walk to the shopping center across the street. The place is HUGE! It has everything you need....trinkets, snacks, water (much cheaper here than the hotel!!!!) as well as really great clothing stores and wonderful restaurants. If you like Thai food - you MUST try THAI - which is over by the aquarium. AMAZING! Call in advance and reserve a cabana over the water - you will not be disappointed!
Overall, we were super pleased with our stay and I hope to come back sometime soon with my boyfriend.
The staff was very friendly and everyone was so helpful - I highly recommend the ME!
If you have any questions - feel free to send me a note.
(I do hope to add photos soo too!)
