We booked a catamaran/snorkel excursion through our cruise ship in Cozumel, which was operated by Playa Mia on the "Aqua Queen 4." When we arrived, we were notified that the primary snorkel site (Palancar reef) was not available due to high wind. We were given the option of a refund but chose to go ahead (this was the right way to handle the issue and we are glad we stayed).
After everyone arrived, we were led to the catamaran, which was tied up at the cruise ship pier. It was a relatively small group (I'm sure due to COVID restrictions) so there was plenty of room. The alternate snorkel site was very close to the cruise pier so the boat staff handed out equipment and provided instruction very quickly. We snorkeled in two area. Both were nice (probably not as good as Palancar) but we were glad to be back in Caribbean water after almost 3 years of cancellations. After the snorkeling, lunch was provided and we cruised the coast of Cozumel.
The Playa Mia staff on the boat were great. The helped anyone who needed it in the water and provided great service during lunch and our cruising time. The music wasn't too loud and they did not push a "party" atmosphere. It was very laid back, which was just what we wanted.
