Dozens of giant sting rays trapped inside a smallish area, their stingers have been removed, and cannot swim around freely like the giant ones do in the open seas. It’s like watching sad circus animals doing tricks for their meals. If you enjoy that sort of thing then you might like it.

As part of our vacation at The Cozumel Palace, we could participate in this adventure. And we were all glad that we did! Our guide, Caesar, was knowledgeable and personable......great sense of humour, too. We all learned so very much about Mexican rays and getting to see them up close, feed them and touch them was an amazing experience. But I do think that the time snorkelling was our favourite. So many incredible fish varieties including huge Mexican and Caribbean rays and nurse sharks were seen. It was amazing to us all. The snorkelling equipment worked well and was included in our package. We also got tee shirts and pictures! Can't beat that! Thanks, Caesar for an amazing time!

We did this excursion through Royal Caribbean. Feeding the rays was entertaining, and they were very VERY friendly. How demanding they were for food actually frightened one of the guests in our party to the point that she backed up onto the beach to get away from them. They are a little pushy and big enough to possibly knock someone small over. Guides were educational and answered all questions. The pictures are expensive even after paying $60 to get in, and you’re not allowed to bring your own to take pictures while feeding (obviously so you’ll purchase the ones they take). The beach is hardly a beach, with only two lounging chairs to relax in. The snorkeling was a disappointment. Yes, you’ll see a few sharks, some fish, and some more stingrays but there is no coral or pretty structures to see. You would get more bang for your buck paying to go on a real snorkeling excursion. The enclosure is very small and has a fence all the way around, so there is no way to really go off and see different things, and they want you to stay by the guides the entire time. It was a very short experience for the amount you pay, and you almost feel a little rushed to get in and get out as they try to get as many guests through as possible. I would feel differently if the beach was bigger or there was an area to relax and enjoy yourself, but you pretty much are left to your own as soon as you are done with the snorkel and feeding. It was entertaining, but would not recommend it to others or go back to do it again. The hermit crab races were fun though, and you get a shot of tequila if you place in the top 3.

Those in our party who did this loved it!!! Very different and gained knowledge of rays. My 13 yo gdaughter is a ray expert... this was the thrill if a lifetime for her.
My 38 yo daughter with autism was bothered by one touching her. She almost had a shutdown episode and it’s all she focused on that day.
My knees are bad and I was not allowed in as the floor of the ocean there is rocky. Our 4 yo was too young, but the 9 yo loved it.
There really wasn’t anything to keep the 4 yo occupied during the tour... so we ended up walking to the beach area just off of the premises and played in tide pools.
They really could fix up their “beach area” to keep youngsters entertained. Maybe offer refreshments, too.
