We stayed here two years ago with our kids and loved it. When we were looking for a destination wedding spot, we really chose it because we wanted to be able to find our guests and it is a nice size. When you come from so far you don’t only want to see them for one day!

The view is stunning. Best I think I’ve ever seen. The water is crystal clear and warm. Blue green paradise. No rip tides or surf. This is the place to come if you love to swim. Safe for children. Another reason we chose it.

We hosted an Olympics on the beach to help our guests that didn’t know each other to get acquainted. This was all arranged and hosted by the Melia staff. It was a huge hit with adults and kids alike.

This resort blew us away the second time. The staff are incredible, the wedding set up was something out of a dream and the dinner off the charts delicious! Our glasses were never empty for a second the staff were so attentive. We returned to our room to find rose petal carpets, champagne and a hot tub filled with petals and essential oils.

Our guests were blown away with the hospitality and the kindness of a group check in so children who had a long travel day didn’t have to wait. This resort has been around 44 years and many of the staff are original. That should tell you a lot right there. Forget the 40 acre resorts and come to a place where you will be treated with love and kindness. We will be back to see you again!

We would give you a 40 out of 10!!! You took everything we envisioned and made it so much more beautiful.
Thank you to Janett and her amazing team!!!

We went to Melia Cozumel using a family time share room from November 11-18. But we chose to leave the resort after only a couple days and book at a different hotel (Excellence) in Cancun. We were celebrating our 5 year anniversary and our only experience with an all inclusive resort was our honeymoon at the Excellence in Punta Cana, DR. I think we were spoiled and this place did not even come close to meeting our expectations. A couple notes:

1) Our room (a great room, they said) was nothing special though it was large. No whirlpool tub, the shower heads were basic and at chest level (we are average-tall americans). But the worst part was that the room smelled like mildew/mold the bedding and furniture always felt wet to the touch. I woke up congested the two days we spent there. I asked for a room change and was repeatedly told that the hotel was booked. When I looked on expedia, there were rooms available to book. Now, that might be a glitch but the resort also looked mostly deserted. There was no one on the beach, in the pool or in the lobby areas to speak of during the day. So I doubt they were full.

2) The drinks tasted terrible. I ordered a mojito and it was awful. I tried several other drinks and they were no good. Finally, we started googling drinks and giving the bartender the recipe to make them. Those were a little better.

3) The restaurants were unimpressive. The food was good but the atmosphere was only so so. One of the restaurants is connected to the buffet. You also needed a reservation and the first night they only had reservations at one of the three restaurants.

4) No one ever asked me if I needed a drink or help. I sat by the pool for an hour one day and no one approached me at all.

5) Room service broke our Iphone charger. We notified the staff and they made no attempts to replace it.

6)The water was rough and dirty when were were there. A lot of seaweed too. It was windy but the beach did not look appealing at all.

7) They did refund us our remaining days without any issues so that's a plus.

8) There was a bike race there the weekend we were there and there was no way to get a cab out of the resort. We talked three miles down to San Miguel, which I wouldn't bother doing because the town is just a tourist trap with nothing valuable to see. The walk there was full of desserted areas with piles of garbage polluting the landscape.

Overall, this place is a nice Holiday Inn. It's not what I'd expect out of a an all inclusive resort. Almost everyone there spoke spanish (I get it, its Mexico) but there didn't seem to be any international guests there to speak of. We left because we decided the only way we'd enjoy our vacation is if we explored the other side of the island at a significant cost. All we wanted to do on our week away from kids and work was relax by the pool and eat good food. This place was not conducive to that. If you've been to an Excellence, Iberostar, NowJade/Sapphire, etc. this place will not impress you!

Room Tip: Our room was moldy- good luck!

We stayed at the resort Nov 18-Nov 25. Just would like to extend our sincere thanks for spoiling us with care, warmness and smiles. Michael at the reception, Carlos with Spanish lessons... Sorry if I do not mention all names but all team of staff worth the highest marks. Our room was on the fourth floor of the second building with beautiful sea view every morning! The breakfast terrace area is priceless facing again the sea. Small resort but you are able to see the sea from almost every point of the resort. Weather, water, food were great! Thank you! Oxana and Anatoli

Room Tip: Wi-Fi in the room would be good to have

Having been to many ai resorts up and down the Mayan Riviera we have had a fantastic time at Melia. The resort is very well maintained and the grounds are very well kept. The food here is very good in comparison to other resorts we have been to.
The resort is very relaxing and peaceful with a great beach and no coral or rocks to deal with entering the water.
The staff is absolutely amazing. Very friendly and helpful for anything you may need.
Our checkin was fast and effortless.
Our room was right on the beach and fantastic.
We will definetly stay at Melia again.

Room Tip: Beach front is amazing in B building.
