This is 2 years in a row that this ferry service has been a major buzz kill. Plan on being there early and still waiting.
This year we knew what we were doing and got in line hoping to get on the ferry a bit earlier in the day hoping to not have to wait too long, it was a fail.
After waiting in line we were next to get on the boat and the guy asked us how many people and then said it was “full”? We said can you double check it, he said “sure” and closed the rope and walked away – he walked around the wall and sat down. Then the boat left, he totally lied and for no reason! He was still sitting in the same spot of shade when we got on the next boat. We could see things because we were first in line.
There were lots of people behind us. We ended up waiting in line another 75 minutes for them to take a boat that had been parked off on a different dock and move it to pick up the load of people. The previous ferry was bigger but staffed by a completely different group of people. There wasn’t any reason we could not have left an hour earlier.
On the smaller ferry we were not full – plenty of empty seats when we left and there was a ton of people who were waiting in line for another hour… so they didn’t fill our boat up either…???
Why take the smaller boat to make people wait? Why lie when you didn’t have to? Why not see you have hundreds of people and make an extra run with the boat sitting on the side – it wasn’t like the staff wasn’t sitting around / on the boat the whole time.
If you take the boat to Isla plan on bringing a folding chair and a book and don’t do it after a long day of travel. And don’t expect them to care. Plan on spending 2 plus hours waiting to get on your boat.
I also didn’t care for the Pandering that was done on the ferry – they had a performer with very loud speaker – we had to shout to converse with each other.
I would look into other options if you are going to Isla.
