Victor Cevera closed his original Casa Havana a few years ago.

On the second floor terrace of the same address - 29 Calle Juarez north - he just opened a Cuban lunch counter. We left town the day he opened, so we only got to smell the preparation for the first day, but it was wonderful (as was the original restaurant).

Look for a white signboard on the sidewalk just south of La Lomita on the same side of Juarez.

Victor serves: "Cuban sándwich and chunks pork.order to go...whith rice and beans ,fried banana ,tostón yuca ,fries,.double bread, call ,cell 9981878922 ,start 4 pm."

Can't go wrong when the owner and executive chef are present and supervising everything from the waiter to the kitchen and makes pristine consistency for excellent menu items her pride.

We found this place by accident, walking along the eastern coast walkway. The place is small and charming: you feel like you are in someone's house. We ordered a steak dish and a shrimp dish. The steak and shrimp were good but the real standout was all the sides: the rice, plantains, manioc, jicama, and more. The kitchen was open and we saw the chefs preparing it all by hand, by order - down to fresh potato chips. It is right on the ocean, away from the downtown section. Highly recommended!
