The new tasting menu brings flavor to a different and enhaced level. Perfection in service and wine pairing are equal to the great conception of this avantgarde mexican restaurant. Please, do yourself a favor and ask for the creolle pig with local fruits. Tender as foie gras with a crunchy skin that you will remember for the rest of your life. Not expensive but not cheap considering a dinner for two for around $140 usd including a 20% tip. Certainly a place to visit in yucatan.

A fabulous experience! The staff is very kind and attentive. It was quite a gastronomical experience! Delicious and hearty portions with a molecular gastronomy spin! The cocktails are delicious and finely crafted. Kuuk is a must visit for a nice dinner when in Merida!

It had been three years since we first experienced and reviewed Kuuk. At that time, the restaurant was quite a distance from Central Merida but managed to not only survive but flourish. It moved to the heart of Merida into a stunning 19th century mansion near the Monumento a la Patria on Paseo Montejo. With its stellar location and continued excellent food, we again enjoyed an amazing dining experience. Unfortunately, rain dampened our evening a bit but did not adversely affect the friendly, attentive service. Although the atmosphere should have been captivating, we actually found the new dining areas to be somewhat sterile and cold and missed the intimacy and more romantic ambience of the original restaurant. Even so, Kuuk in Merida ranks amongst some of our finest dining adventures.

Our tasting menu dinner at Kuuk lived up to the hype. It was a delicious michelin-level journey through the culinary secrets of Yucatan. Each dish was perefct, no complaints.

We didn't opt for the wine pairing and instead had a couple of glasses of very good Mexican wines. Kuuk has the most impressive wine list we've seen in Merida. I hope they actually stock those as it's a tendency in the city to have a long list but not much in the cellar...

Service was good. The bathrooms are perhaps not up to par with the rest of the impressive elegant property. The place was somehow lacking in ambience, but we were there for the food so ignored that part. I would, however, suggest to dim the lights slightly.

We went for Sunday lunch and had the tasting menu with paired wine. The building is lovely. The welcome could have been warmer. We had a young, enthusiastic waiter who was great at explaining the food but not so great at explaining why specific drinks had been chosen to complement the food.

Some of the food was great; the pumpkin amuse, the pumpkin and goats cheese starter and the pork main course. One dish was terrible; the raw prawn had to go back. The other dishes were inventive and were aiming to showcase Yucatan food. This has to be applauded.

The wine pairing did not work for us at all. It started reasonably well with a dark beer shared between us. From then on we were served a succession of ends of bottles; flat ‘sparkling’ French wine, sour white and rank red. I cannot understand this at all. This restaurant provides a brilliant opportunity to showcase the food of the region and the wine of Mexico. The list of Mexican wine is extensive so why serve old and average French wine with Yucatan food?

Mexico has such a variety of available drinks that could have made a much bigger impact.
