This small bakery on Calle 58 is so similar to a bakery in Paris, but of course, the baker is from France. True french pastry, not Mexican style pastry. You can order breads from them and again, they are the best in Merida.

Breakfast, morning tea, afternoon tea, picnic snacks for your days trips or just because they are really, really good. Best croissants in town and if you go early you might just be in time for some fresh out of the oven.
We did find it quite hilarious that on one of our trips there, at a about 10 in the morning, that the Mexican employees were making some quesadillas and ho-ing into them rather than the delicious buttery goodness of the French fare on offer. You can lead a horse to water...

Real butter delights served by an affable baker! He gives away yesterday's breads to anyone in need, so you know you're only buying the freshest when you walk in.

We were looking for a French breakfast and were delighted to find l'escargot. The croissant and pain au chocolat were fresh off the oven, crispy as they should be (a rare find in a country where heat and humidity make it hard to bake). There is a couple of tables to enjoy a cafe (and the large selection if pastries) nothing luxurious but totally enjoyable. I highly recommend the place, also worth mentioning the service is really nice!

What a wonderful find on a Saturday morning. The bakery is tiny but the pastries are excellent. The owner (I presume) was more then helpful explaining what the different fillings were. It will become a regular stop on our morning walks over the next three months.
