Planning a 40th birthday getaway for me and 15 friends provided an incredible challenge in staying somewhere quiet and charming, but also in a resort area with many activities and diversions. Castillo Blanco was just a stone's throw away from both the beach as well as downtown Playa del Carmen. I was able to put up my entire gang for a very reasonable price. Each floor in the villa had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and living area, with open balconies off of each room. Mostly, this was an enjoyable trip because the property manager, Jacky Ramirez, was so delightfully helpful, accommodating, accessible, with her irrepressible quirky charm. The kitchens could have housed more available cleaning supplies, and the mechanical arm of the security gate just outside needed some serious WD-40 (it groaned like a seal upon its constant opening and closing), but mostly it was a great trip because of Jacky. She made sure we ate the places we wanted, visited the attractions we had planned on, and all-in-all ensured we had a wonderful time. Hard to find a place to placate 16 people but this place was just perfect.

My friends and I stayed there for a week in October 2010.
It's simply a perfect location, private and quiet. The house is very clean. There's also cleaning service included in the price. Laundry service available as well for ridiculously cheap prices.
The house is a 2 minute walk from the 5th avenue. 3 minutes to the beach.
Having a private pool was just great. A dip in there in the morning will cure any hangover.
We really had a great time.
Jacky, the landlady, is great. She was very helpful and sweet. Not to mention, gorgeous.
I'd highly recommend this place if you're going to Playa.

The room was nothing like the pictures or the description. They have shots of their best room up on their website, and the other rooms are nothing like that. It says all italian furniture. Not so. For the price - not worth it at all!

Beware of this facility. They advertise a low price and then will not honor that price after you make a reservation. We had confirmed reservations (written) and they would still not honor the price quoted. It looks good on paper but it is not worth the headache and frustrations trying to clarify.

A tiny bit hard to find at first, but once there, what a great place! Quiet, private, and easy access to Playa, 5th Ave., a private beach, and Mayan ruins within a block of walking. The room is large, with plenty of space for a family/group, including parking (which seems to be a problem in Playa). It is easy to get to with a car, if you drive, and they will also come pick you up from the airport. The kitchen is a bit sparse for extravagant meals, but great for easy stuff (breakfasts, quick meals, coffee, etc.). We stayed in Blanco III, which is also a half block from a private pool. Jacky is great.
