We were excited to try this tiny gem on the side streets of 5th Avenue, and it did not disappoint.

Service was lovely and attentive. Nice wine list (we once again enjoyed the Casa Madero Cabernet Grand Reserve...so delish!)

After nearly two weeks of simple Mexican, steak, and seafood, we each opted for one of the curries for a bit of a tastebud change-up. And just wow. The chicken curry (spice level 2 of 5) was creamy, sweet and a teeny bit spicy. The panang beef curry (spice level 4 of 5) was fantastic. Just the right spice and coconut-y blend with tender pieces of beef. And the Indian Masala with lamb (spice level 4 of 5) was remarkable.
Each of the curries were served with perfectly cooked jasmine rice wrapped in a banana leaf.

As noted by the other diners, the only downside is the temperature - it was a hot and steamy evening and we were melting by the end of the meal. Also, there were not able to accept American Express (which may be a temporary situation, but be aware).

This was our BEST meal in our 2 weeks in Mexico. It is a must while in Playa del Carmen. Reservations required.

My friend booked the dinner here for my birthday. Everything we ordered were so delicious!! Very flavorful. We decided to have 3 starters and share 1 main and desert. The portion of each meal was decent and we both got full.

The service was great too. They are so polite and attentive. We stayed for 4 hours!!! ( talk, talk, talk... sorry that's what 2 girls do!!) but they never reminded us how much time we were spending and they just let us eat and talk at our own pace.

Above all, their food was great. Both of us live and have own business in Playa del Carmen and would recommend this restaurant to our clients too.

We celebrate 37 years of marriage, we choose to do it at oh la la restaurant, and we made the wright decision. They welcome us warmly. They asked us if we celebrate some event. They was very patient with the courses choice, we are vegetarian and they managed to have the best options for us. We started with oh la la salad (without bacon), mushrooms salad, excellent and tasty. The sea bass was perfect, the tuna fish good. The oh la la martini and mojito were the best we had in all Mexico. They offered us the dessert on the house. All the staff was very professional, attentive and sympathetic. They deserve to be number one in playa del Carmen

My wife and i had dinner at Oh LaLa last night 7/14. The place is very close
to 5th ave in PDC and an easy walk. It's small but with a nice modern minimalist
decor. Ambiance is ok and reasonably quiet with a fantastic aroma of spices been cooked. This is a place for couples or foursomes at most due to size and configuration.
We were greeted very cordially and graciously by the hostess and waiter alike.
They do know how to make you feel like a special guest! We started with two appetizers, a raw tuna flatbread with chipotle mayo and garlic shrimp. Both were very good to excellent. For entries my wife had the octopus and i had the 9oz. fillet. The octopus was very tender and reasonably flavorfull making it very good to excellent. My fillet was a failure! I asked for medium rare and it was ridiculously unevenly cooked so that it went from barely medium rare in the side where i started to cut to well done one third into it!! Unacceptable to me for a restaurant of this caliber. A shame because i had looked forward to this dining experience. The prices are high and so are the expectations. The wine list is acceptable and prices reasonable.
