By chance we only had two nights reserved at this hotel. The smell caused by seeweed problems was disgusting, we could'nt stay outside the hotel. The other major problem was the music noise at night because the hotel is very close to the night-clubs. Even with ear plugs it was hard to sleep... The room 307 was the closest to the street, very close to the bars. Anyway, the staff did'nt say anything or apologize for the smell problem and that is not client oriented.

Dear andr_I873,

Thank you for taking a moment to review your experience with us. We take all comments very seriously since they assist us greatly in maintaining and improving the service we provide.

We are very sorry that we could not meet your expectations, and please accept our apology if we did not do more to address your discomfort. But please also understand that the issues you mention are completely out of our hands.

For a few days, not only our beach, but all the Riviera Maya was suffering a severe problem with the seaweed being washed up. It is a natural phenomenon that occurs once in a while. We do clean our beach every morning (or more if needed) of excessive seaweed, but unfortunately, we can't keep it from washing up. Believe me, when I say we wish there was more we could do.

Playa Palms Beach Hotel is located in the very heart of Playa del Carmen, what means that there are not only restaurants close by, but also bars and night clubs. Since we soundproofed all our rooms and the hotel entrance 2 years ago, we received many compliments on the sleeping quality in the rooms. We do understand, however, that some rooms need further improvement, and we are working on resolving this. Also on weekends, there might be more noise. We are sorry that this affected your stay.

Thank you again for commenting on your stay and with kind regards,

Helge Sturesson

We stayed at Playa Palms the week of July 17, 2017.
All the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
The rooms were clean and the beds confortable.
The AC worked good but a bit noisy and could not adjust the fan speed.
Good Wi-Fi and flat screen TV to relax after a long day.
Pool was clean, there is a restaurant next door by the beach or you can walk 3 blocks to 5th Avenue and there are plenty of restaurants and shops. Close walk to marina for the boats to cozumel and the bus station to the airport.
We liked the room breakfast served every morning.

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for a week. All personnel were very friendly and helpful. The garden that is all over the hotel is very well taken care of and we loved that they brought our free breakfast to our room at the time we wanted. Our room was cleaned everyday and the cleaning lady always made a cute little design on the bed with flowers. This hotel is about 5 minutes walking from 5th Ave. very close to restaurants, and boutiques. Overall we were very pleased with our experience.

I like the room a lot and had the time to really disconnect from work. Although is close enough to the main Avenue of Playa del Carmen (5th Avenue), it's far enough to avoid the annoying side of mass tourism.

This hotel was small, cute, and quant. Staff is great. Free breakfast daily was delivered to our patio, had the basics, good enough to start the day.

Location to clubs/bars/shops along quince avenida is unbeatable just a few steps away but far enough to not be distracted by the music overnight. This is the hotel's best highlight.

Only thing that takes away a star is that the section of the beach in front of the hotel is next to a lot of boat docks and it obstructs the beauty of the beach which makes a huge difference whereas the rest of the hotels to the right have no boats obstructing the beautiful ocean. We ended up spending most of our time on the side of the beach in front of the other hotels where the view was open and not obstructed by a bunch of boats. Would of been nice if we could of stayed near our hotel while lounging on the beach so that is unfortunate.

We had a rent a car so it was a challenge to find parking. street parking in playa del carmen is free and 24hours. We were lucky to find a parking spot a few blocks away and did not move our car because of how hard it was to find parking. Wished the hotel provided parking. The hotel next door, El Taj, provided their own parking for guests and had parking attendants. Wish this was the case for Playa Palms, however if you dont have a car then this is no big deal.

Dear tramaze,

Thank you very much for your kind and thorough review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, our ideal location close to everything and having the breakfast delivered to your room every morning.

Regarding the boats in front of our beach, please keep in mind that, long before turning into the tourist destination it is today, Playa del Carmen was a sleepy fishing village. The fishermen are still around and for many visitors part of the town's charm. We are sorry if you felt differently.

It was a pleasure having you stay with us and we hope to welcome you back soon again!

Kind regards,
