We took the excursion in July with two kids:4 year old and teenager. Whale watching was a highlight of our trip to Cape Breton, absolutely must see! We had only 3 days on the Island, so unfortunately it was rainy day, but even though the trip was worth every dollar spent. We saw a many whales, and they were so close to Zodiak so you almost can touch them. The captain was very professional, he found whales pretty fast and we spent over an hour watching them. If you are going to take the trip with young children make sure you have waterproof coat and pants for them, the company does not have child sizes. Waterproof camera is nice to have too, especially for rainy days

We went out with this group a day after excursions were cancelled due to wind. I am not sure if that issue pressured the crew to go out on our day or not, but the trip out was harrowing for my husband trying to hold on to our 5 year old in the zodiac. The boat was launching several feet in the air off of big waves. And our 12 and 14 year old kids, who are very adventurous and pretty tough, both thought it was frightening. They saw some whales (7-9) and seals, which was very rewarding, but families should be very wary--it is just not a safe adventure for young kids unless the seas are dead calm. Having said all that, Jordan and Captain John were wonderful and very professional.

Took excursion with friends and two teenage sons. We were the first trip of the day so most of the time spent on the water was searching for whales. Back and forth and back and forth searching. By the time we found some whales it was so late, we couldn't stay and had to get back. We saw more whales on the way back, but would not stop to watch them. We never learned our guide's name nor did he offer any information about the whales or anything else while we were on board. He was more like a zodiac driver than a guide. The trip back was so fast and pounding (not that there were large waves), we all felt like we needed to visit a chiropractor. Couldn't let go for fear that we would fly out of the zodiac. Our boys loved the speed, though. I was glad when it was over. I would recommend not going on the first excursion, and making sure you get a better captain.
