Luxurious colonial lobby with live piano daily. Rooms are spacious. I appreciate bathrobes. I love rooms with balconies despite noisy streets. soundproof windows worked well for me. I am not a regular customer because other nearby hotels offer better value - Alameda and Soledad - one less and one more than Virreyes.

Don't miss their restaurant! Good food good service.

We have never stayed at this hotel, but have enjoyed drinks and appetizers in their sidewalk restaurant. Terrific Salsa Verde made with Cerrato pepper, and the red salsa is very good, too. We had their sample appetizers for two, which had both sauces, and we enjoyed it very much. Good margaritas, and attentive service. Good spot to watch the street scene from a more tranquil advantage.

At the Hotel Virrey you are going to travel in time back a couple of centuries. First of all you are located right in the most important plaza of Morelia. City that happens to have the most intresting heritage. Rooms are nice and spacious. Most ammenities are there. Probably the highlight was the viewy to the cathedral and breakfast with live piano in a ballroom.

Lovely location but definitely ask for a room that does not face the street or square. Even a room without windows or with a terrible view is preferable to one that opens to the street. The noise from a local restaurant is rage-level high volume until 10:30 M-Th and all night on weekends.
The older, stately woman at reception was pointedly un-helpful, cold, and graceless, but everyone else was delightful. The restaurant staff were outstanding and clearly wanted us to have a great time.

Room Tip: Stay away from street facing rooms unless you can unplug your hearing aids.

This is a beautiful hotel and I am sorry that I did not have the opportunity to stay there. The architecture is wonderful, with a special feature being the stained glass ceiling. The colonnades make a great setting for a meal while watching the activity in the zocalo. We had the botanas for two and it was just right for lunch. Don't miss this hotel - even to have a look at the lobby and the ceiling.
