We got what we were looking for. Decent price at a decent resort.

We went here knowing it wasn't a 4 or 5 star place, but honestly we never stay at 4 or 5 star places. All in all we were happy. I think we would go back again.

Stayed: February 2018

Sunwing rated this hotel a 4 star its lucky to be a 3 star.normally there is a sunwing representative at hotel not this one.Last day waiting for bus a representative finally came over and asked how was the stay when we all answered this is a 3 star not 4 he never even stayed around. The security guards, one in particular was very rude and hassles the guest. The food was always cold ,a lacarte was a joke.Reviews of hotel say bar fridge in room should say fridge with water and pop.The only thing that made this resort good was the hard working staff that were always freindly. Had no air condition in room for 2 days finally got moved to another room

We paid for a 3 star and that is what it was!

The good:

The staff is awesome. Many have limited English but many have great English. I used Google translate when necessary. They went above and beyond to help us out and offered great service.

The beach is wonderful. We were served on the beach all week.

We had an amazing balcony coming our from our room overlooking the pool and the ocean.

It was close to walk into town.

The rooms are clean and the grounds are immaculately kept. The pool was warm.

I know a lot of people complain about the Mexicans at the resort - but we are in Mexico! Do people complain about the amount of Canadians when they travel to places in Canada. NO! It wasn't as busy as people make it out to be...we are beach people so when we wanted to go in the pool many of the locals were inside or elsewhere in the hottest part of the day. I didn't mind the small amount of travellers from other countries!

The food was ok at the buffet. Breakfast was our fave meal and the snack bar by the pool was yummy! Order the Spanish coffee at the al a carte! So cool to watch them make it!

Head into town and have the table side guac from Generals. Mmmmmm

We would completely go back to this hotel!

Room Tip: We had room 155 with a huge balcony!!!!

Having read previous reviews I was expecting an unpleasant 2 week vacation. The room we were given was on the 7th floor with full ocean view and balcony. The problem was the noise from ac machines from the next door hotel. At times it drowned out the roar of the ocean. Another problem was the smell of food from the kitchen reaching our balcony and room. The staff is very attentive and took great care of us. The property a bit tired was clean. The lobby is nondescript but with a decent bar at night. The buffet area was hot and very noisy and crowded. We always ate outside . The alacarte was good italian or mexican. The pool was often quite crowded but the water was warm and inviting. Te beach was beautiful with palapas to keep you in the shade. You had to be reserving one by 7am to get a good one. Having spoken to many other guests. We paid for what we got, And yes there were many Mexican families. 80% of all guests. And many many kids.. Would I recommend the Tesoro. Probably not.. The food was just ok . The drinks were the usual all inclusive .. We saved on the price were not disappointed but will go elsewhere next time in Ixtapa

Room Tip: higher the floor better the view

This is a great resort! What makes this place so good is the staff. They all work so hard to make your holiday enjoyable. From management on down everyone has a smile and a hello. You're more than just a number, and they make you feel like you've coming home.

The food is good, with lots of fresh fruit and veggies, and really good bacon in the morning! I'm a pretty picky eater and there is always something I'll eat. Mexican night is fantastic, and the guacamole they serve is darn tasty. And the coffee. Wow! There isn't enough room to mention all the staff by name, but they really deserve it.

The daily entertainment and shows that the animation staff put on are so much fun. Alex and the rest of the group are great dancers. Join the horse race if you get a chance. It's a blast.

They have a great beach. The hotel is close to some shopping areas. The rooms are very clean. It's not the newest or biggest resort, but they are always working to improve. I appreciate that. The grounds are imaculate! Very beautiful. Lots of local families on weekends but it is their country and if I lived close by I'd be visiting on weekends too. And people from Mexico speak Spanish.

This was my fourth visit to the Tesoro and each year I see lots of other people who go every year. People who've been going for 10 to 20 years, and have tried other hotels but keep going back to the Tesoro. That says a lot about the hotel and staff. I highly recommend the Tesoro to my family and friends, and anyone who asks. God willing, I'll be back next year, and I can't wait!!!
