Overall a good experience in a great location. The staff are friendly and helpful , the food was good for the most part with a reasonable amount of variety and the beach was nice.

The beach had a sandy bottom with medium sized waves most of the time. One issue is the water is not clear so you should really do the shuffle while walking to avoid the stingrays. The stingrays can be a problem and I personally saw 2 swimming in the waves and the beach was shut down for a half day due to larger ones around. They generally only bother if you step on them or frighten them.

The location is handy as it is across the street from a small mall with starbucks ,Mcdonalds and a small grocery store. You can take a 20 dollar cab ride to Puerto Vallarta or to a few small towns in the area. There are two golf courses near by and a marina. Would recommend a side trip to Sayulita which is a trendy chill surfing town with restaurants and lots of dogs. You can watch the surfers from shore while enjoying a refreshing beverage.
The entertainment at the resort was just okay and lacked often as the resort was filled with an older crowd who were not interested in disco or singing. The resort is smaller which is good in that its easy to get around and you quickly get to know some of the staff. The check in was also the quickest and easiest Ive experienced at an all inclusive.
The hotel has free wifi in the lobby and wifi to purchase but is not very reliable.

I would recommend this resort if you want a clean quiet resort with a nice beach and a great location.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a better view of the ocean and are quieter.

Traveled with Apple vacations from Feb 2 to Feb 8.. Apple vacations always is a great source for vacation travel. We have traveled with Apple at least 15 times and we never had a problem.
The resort is very clean and beautiful. WIFI is pretty spotty. If you stand by the brown and beige sofas in the lobby, you can get a connection but it is very slow. This is a small resort, 270 rooms. The resort caters to senior citizens. About 80% were over 50, (many in their 70's and 80's) very few families. They give you arm bands.
Check in/check out : it was a breeze. All the employees were so friendly and the service was outstanding. We choose not to upgrade to Royal Club which is $45 PP per day. We were not treated any less for not upgrading. Hats off to Esther in the buffet and Jesus at the pool bar. Ask him to make you a Chewy Margarita! it is a margarita with Jalapenos and his special mix.
Entertainment: Mediocre. They need to add a house band in the lobby bar after dinner. The shows are just OK. Monday is karaoke, Tuesday is Miss occidental, Wednesday is Circus and Fire, Thursday is Perfect couple, Friday is Mexican Fiesta, Sat is Michael Jackson, Sunday Star Wars. The White Party has been cancelled forever. Shows starts at 9:00 pm. They have a bike tour each day that starts at 9:30 am. Bring a bandana or cap to wear under the helmet. Helmets are stinky! We went to the town of Bucerias on the bikes which is about 5 miles away. You can walk or also take a cab there. If you are walking turn left at the lobby. It is safe and a bike path you can take there. The theater is outdoor with a bar. All shows are held there. It gets very cool at night so bring a light jacket. There is a sax player in the lobby bar at night. Very boring. They need a house band and better evening activities.
There are several restaurant outside the resort so if you get tired of the hotel food, you have options. Turn left from the lobby to get to the casino which is a short block away. On Tuesdays there is a large farmers market in the casino parking lot. They take pesos. Turn right from lobby to get to the mall. It is very modern. It is about 1000 yards from the hotel .There is Starbucks , Dominos, McDonalds, Subway, grocery store. Grocery store only takes pesos. You can get it exchanged at front desk or there is a bank across the street. If you want go to PV by bus, there is a direct bus for 15 pesos that you can take from the mall. Get off at the Malaccan and there are plenty of shopping and the walk along the board walk is beautiful. We took a cab back for $20. We went to Mama Lucia Tequila distillery and tasted their tequila. It is about 10 minutes by cab from the hotel . The tasting is free! 160 Pecos RT by cab. Ask the front desk to call and make a reservation for you.

Food: On a scale of 1 - 10, I would rate it about 6. I have had better and worse. I would like a little more variety of restaurants. The resort has 1 buffet and 2 restaurants. Italian and Mexican for dinner. The Mexican restaurant is just fine, the Italian I thought was better. I had Salmon one night and Mahi Mahi another night. They were delicious. The wine in this restaurant is better than the lounge and pool bar. My husband had the steak there and he said that it was very tasty. Lunch is a sit down restaurant , snack bar and buffet. The sit down has a al la carte menu, snack bar has hot dogs, hamburger, fries, quesadillas, tacos and variety of salads. Monday night is seafood night at the buffet. It was mediocre. The house wine is terrible so I switched to champagne, which was just ok but better than the wine.. Friday night at the buffet is Mexican. For $20 PP you can upgrade to eat at the gourmet restaurant on the 7th floor. Please tip these hard working employees. We bring 100 $1 bills for our week there. You need to make dinner reservations 24 hours in advance with guest services for the Italian and Mexican restaurants. Men, you need to wear close toed shoes and long pants.. The Mexican restaurant and buffet are open air and has air conditioning.

Rooms: Room service is extra if you are not part of the Royal club. The rooms are just fine. We ended up with 2 double beds instead of a king. Maid service came in the morning except for 1 day. They came after we got back from the pool and we told them we did no need the service that day. Ladies, bring hair conditioner. The room has shampoo, hair dryer, body gel, 1 small bottle of lotion for a week. The bathroom has plenty of drawers.

Pool: Adult pool is heated, the other pool is not. No floaters so we brought our own. On the last day we left our floaters with a family that had small children. The bar service at the adult pool is terrible. You need to get your own drink at the pool bar. If you are a "pepper belly", ask Jesus to make you a "Chewy margarita". Margarita with jalapeno with his special mix. It is yummy! All activities are at the other pool. They have sun screen at the activities booth. No need to claim your spot unless you want an umbrella at the adult pool. There is a Jacuzzi at the adult pool.

Bar: only two bars. The lobby bar has a sax player at night. Boring! They need to add a house band at the lounge bar for a little dancing.
The shows start at 9:00 at the theater. they were just ok. Michael Jackson was the best. There is nothing going on after the shows. This hotel caters to the older generation. Many folks in the 70's and 80's. Even though I am over 50, I do not go to bed at 9:00 pm when I am vacation. A house band playing upbeat music would make me very happy! All the bar staff are wonderful. Please tip them!
What would make the resort better:
Swim up bar at adult pool
More Al A carte Restaurants ( Asian or Seafood would be great!
Sports Bar with T.V's and munchies during happy hour
Better access to WIFI's
Better entertainment at night
Business center to print boarding passes. (only royal Club and Time Share has access to the center)
All employees are happy and will to make your stay memorable.
Hotel is clean and updated
Close to a little of town of Bucerias. It is about 5 miles from the hotel. You can walk or take a cab. This little town is adorable with street vendors, very quaint with restaurants and bars. We ate lunch there.
Will I stay here again? Maybe is the price was right.

If you are looking for a quiet place to get away...this may be the place! We are first club vacation club members and this is the first time to Puerto Vallarta area. Nuevo vallarta is completely different than Puerto Vallarta in that there is nothing to do but eat, drink and enjoy the beach. Jorge Cuevas was our beach bartender...always with a smile on his face and twinkle in his eye . He was always checking on us, got us towels if we needed, surprised us with favorite drinks...he always remembered. He also suggested taking bus to mismaloya to go horseback riding. Gave us directions via three buses thus saving $90 in taxi fees. Great guy! We needed rest and relaxation so this was perfect resort at this time, but next time we may want to be closer to activities. Clean rooms, nice beach, well kept grounds, friendly people.
