We selected this restaurant for dinner because it was within walking distance from our hotel. An unexpected find with good service and good Mexican food, with new twists on old favorites. I had the pulled pork taco and it was excellent. My husband had the wet burrito and found it just as tasty as the taco.

We were craving Mexican and saw this place advertising Mexican in the window. We are from Southern California so have a good amount of Mexican food. When we asked if they had chips and salsa the waitress said yes we can get some of those. The chips looked like they just came out of a bag and we could pretty much count them on the plate. The salsa wasn't much better, more chopped tomatoes than anything. I will say the guacamole was pretty good and the main dishes were much better. I think the place had more Spanish influence than Mexican and people should be aware of that.

We both had a fabulous breakfast - just traditional eggs, sausage or bacon, toast, hash and coffee/tea. It was a perfect start for our day. The hash potatoes were not processed which enhanced the meal a lot. Our server was friendly and helpful.

Every time, usually twice a year, we go to Banff we make sure to eat at El Toro. We like to have the Châteaubriand for Two. This time, as usual, the meal was perfect in every way, the beef was cooked exactly as we like it, with the accompaniments being delicious as well. Shannon gave us great service and the presentation was delightful. El Toro's menu has a large selection of tapas as well, it is always a difficult decision weather to have the Chateaubriand or a collection of tapas!
