Owner description: When you have the choice of everything from a thundering steam train to antique midway rides to beautifully preserved heritage buildings and homesteads, deciding what to do first isn't easy. Located in Calgary, Alberta, Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum, with hundreds of exhibits, rides, shops, restaurants and daily demonstrations and activities to keep the young and the young-at-heart captivated in the past. No two days at the Park are the same, so come back as often as you like for a history lesson you won't find in any textbook. Our operating season is from mid-May to early October each year.

I have been there a few times and I never get bored. Looking the way people used to live a hundred years ago is great to compare with all the things that we have now. It is interactive, you can take a ride on the Steam train and the Ferry. The park has a lot of volunteers that not only were clothes like the ones people used to weare, they also know a lot about those years. Fun and enjoyable. Recommended for people of all ages.

Go to destination for visitors, children and folks who want to reminisce or explore history in a re-created setting. You will be taken back in time with the historic buildings and the staff dressing to the history. Lots of walking so wear comfy shoes. Many functions take place at the Wainwright hotel on site that can be rented for weddings, graduations, office parties etc.
To Do - FREE Steam train ride, candy shop, bakery and ferry if visiting in the summer.

Going to Heritage Park is like stepping back in time. Historic buildings, the old train to ride, wooden sidewalks, and old-style restaurants are just of few things to enjoy here. Don't forget to go on the ferry while you are there.

i don't know where to begin, there is so many things to see and do at heritage park. it's best for first time visitors to get information on the park before actually going there. i really like going to gasoline alley where you can view vintage cars from our past. some cars are operational and some are being restored. all cars are indoors. amongst the cars are actual gas station signs from the past and many different gravity fed gas pumps that were used.
there are a few good places to eat. my favorite is at the restored wainwright hotel. you can go to the old bakery store to to buy baked goods to eat in the park or to take home. there are several streets laid out that have houses from our past showing different archetectual styles.
to get get around to different areas of the park, you can take a free ride in a train. a really nice treat is to take an excursion on the ship "ss moyie" around the big glenmore reservoir.
there are many other things to see and do. i've only mentioned a few. i last visited it in the summer of 2016. it is suited for everybody.

Thank Jim L
