Stopped by for a quick bite of food and to catch some hockey. Bar is cavernous with loads going on, found staff firendly enough, and plenty of specials available on beer. Well worth the visit.

Visited Calgary in mid July. Attend the Calgary Stampede and had to check out the Ranchman's Cookhouse. This place is always packed during the Stampede. We actually were staying just a few blocks away and wanted to check it out and get some dinner as well. Most of the people were there for the party, live music and dancing. The staff was friendly, ask questions about our travels. The food was good and we enjoyed our time in the dancehall.

Visiting Calgary for the opening ceremonies at the Calgary Stampede on our vacation from Toronto. My wife, our hostess from Calgary and myself wanted to go dancing at Ranchmans on Saturday the day after the Stampede started. We expected the place to be busy as there were so many tourists in town.
We drove to Ranchmans and we're directed to a dusty field to park even though the regular parking spaces were closed off. We noticed that the large tent was set up at the rear of the main building as there was a concert booked that required pre booking. We walked up to the main building but the doors were locked. We were able to enter the front patio so we went in and ordered a beer
I asked one of the waitresses if I could look inside the building even though it was closed for a special booking. No one was inside yet but the security would not let us look inside?
After our beer the girls asked to use the washroom but security would not let them and told them to use portable toilets outside!
We were so disappointed that we decided to leave.
It seemed strange that the Ranchmans would close the building to the public on a Saturday during Stampede week as many tourists head there for the experience. I consider the decision to book a private event during this time to be very ill thought out as there would have been many tourists to fill up the facility.
Unfortunately we were leaving Calgary the next day so we missed out on our two stepping that we had hoped for

3  Thank Jim B
