Part of Edmonton's famous beautiful river park area, this weekend la Cite Francophone hosts the flying canoe festival. Come daytime to the City Francophone for the sugarbar, ice slide, music, and more. At night come into the enchanted displays throughout the ravine. Lights, lanterns, music camps, and sled rides are part of the activities. Friday or Sat. there are canoe races down the Edmonton Ski Club hill at adjoining Gallagher Park. Tie it in with hockey Canada at Sir Winston Churchill Square (a 3 min. #8 bus ride away) and the farmers' market in City Hall on Sir Winston Churchill Square, where there is also skating and free skate borrowing. Normally, in the ravine you can hike, bike, outdoor pool, and walk your dogs.

Mill Creek Ravine park is a popular park for trails: walking biking, picnics, dog friendly, i.e. many people walk their dogs there. There are lovely older & quaint neighbourhoods around it. On the ? north side of the park (closest to the pool), there is a lovely restaurant/coffee shot/cafe/bistro that really "hits the spot" after communing with nature. Walking clubs often walk here, there is a river/creek as well, the trails are kept up, but it is nature, so need where a runner or even light hikers. Good for some photography as well. Close to the University St. Jean with the U of A. Enjoy any time of year, dress warmly in winter and have appropriate footwear for ice/snow. I would not be down there at night, i.e. after sunset for safety reasons.

I love this place and take my dogs here all the time. The bottom unpaved trail is an off leash dog area and is also used as a mountain bike route. The top paved trails are for cyclists, pedestrians and dogs on a leash. There is a creek and an area where dogs can splash around in the water this trail connects to the greater river valley trails just south of downtown if you keep going north. Not all of it is off leash though so pay attention to the signs.

We love to take our dogs here. They get to run, explore, and even swim. The lower path is like walking in the forest. You can hear the odd sound (siren) but most noise is quite low. Many people walk this path and most people are friendly.

Love this park and off leash opportunity. Great place to walk. Only issue is the City allows cyclists who ride too fast and without regard for safety of walkers. Cyclists also wreak havoc riding through the woods and ruining the park's undergrowth and wildlife habitat. Sad the City does not monitor or license cyclists .
