We had spent a couple of hours in the Rooms and were in need of lunch. The cafe was in a great position offering superb views over the harbour and had a varied menu which suited us. The downside was we had to wait 40 minutes so back looking in the Rooms. We returned and were soon seated. The presentation of the food and service offered was good.

Set in The Rooms muesum, the cafe has the best view of St. John's city and comparable to the one you get to see from Cabot Tower on Signal hill. The food is fresh and tasty, however limited in the offering of gluten free options but still worth going to visit.

Afternoon Tea Time is now back at the Rooms Cafe starting November from 3 pm - 5 pm. We, a group of 6, tried out on its first afternoon of re-opening of the Tea Season. The weather was perfect. 10+ degrees with a great view. We all had different fine china tea sets. We can choose between Tetley, English tea, Specialty Teas which were all timely steeped. The cakes or sweets came in a tray with 6 selections for each person. Beautifully presented in a 3 tiers glass tray. We had finger sandwiches, home made donuts, macaroons, cupcakes, tea buns etc.. see pictures. No way we could finish them all and we took the rest home in a take-out container. If your tea ran out, they will refill your teapot with hot water again. Very nice time for an afternoon social having a tea break. The cost is a little on the pricey side. Its $21 per person before tax and tips.. It is still worthwhile to spend an afternoon with a relaxing cup of tea and afternoon snack. Highly recommended.

We stopped by The Rooms Café for afternoon tea before we headed over to the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist across the street. We went straight up to the top floor to the Café and didn’t visit the exhibits on the other floors, but from what we could see, the building looked very modern, grand and attractive in its design. It was very spacious and art-gallery looking. The Café was packed in the afternoon with patrons enjoying a late lunch or afternoon snacks. We ordered Corned Beef Hash Cakes and two desserts. They were all delicious. The main purpose of our visit was for the view, which did not disappoint us. The balcony outside the Café offered a great view of downtown St. John’s, the harbour, the Battery and Signal Hill. There’s entrance fee for visiting the exhibits, but no fee for going up to the Café floor.

Went for lunch with my boyfriend. The coffee was good, I had some rice dish with pork belly that was so salty I swear they must have poured a cup of salt in. I was unable to eat it, our server was very busy so by the time I was able to flag him down to the table my boyfriend had already finished his food. May or may not return, wasn’t the best place I’ve eaten but wasn’t the worst.
