Stayed last night with my mother on a cash & points night. Check in was fairly easy but we were not given any information on the amenities of the hotel or the breakfast hours.
Room was fine however the bathroom fan did not work and the pumps of the shampoo/conditioner/body wash were crusty and built up with old product. Electronic outputs are older models (no usb). Beds were comfy.
Cleanliness of the hotel could be worked on but we attributed it to it being a holiday weekend and quiet.
Will give the hotel another shot in a few months.

Sh*t in the pool!

Took my daughter specifically to overnight and use the pool. Pool water was cloudy from a chemical imbalance. Our eyes were blood red after a short swim. Coughing from excessive chlorine in the pool. Worst of it was stepping in feces on the bottom of the pool. Yes, sh*t in the pool!

Took management 2 days after check out to call me back regarding my complaint. Was accused of being delinquent notifying hotel. GM was reluctant to give any compensation as complaint was made in the morning verses 10pm at night when the pool closed. We were disinfecting ourselves and swim clothes!

Single Dad who hasn’t seen his daughter in over two years due Covid. This was our first night together. What a disappointment!

Gold Level member of Marriott. This is the worst treatment I've ever had at a Marriott property in 20+ years of stays. Don't stay at this hotel!

Dear William B,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us through Tripadvisor. As previously communicated to you, this concern was not reported to the front desk until 16 hours after you discovered it. It was not reported to our team when it happend on Friday night, rather was reported at 2pm the next day upon check out. Accidents happen when children are having fun and we have procedures in place to deal with this, the pool is immediately closed, treated, and shocked with apporpriate chemicals. In fact we have a state of the art chemical system that automatically detects an imbalance in chemicals and auto adjusts to ensure readings are at the appropirate levels.
The pool would have been thouroghly cleaned on the overnight shift and ready for guest use the next morning. I am sorry that your daughter did not have the experience she had hoped for.
I am proud to say that the Fairfield Inn & Suites, St. John's is ranked in the top 15% of all Marriotts in Canada and in the top 25% of all Fairfields in North America.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family

Stayed two nights room we was in had a bad odour ( 314) , room was clean though and bed was comfy just basic , really enjoyed breakfast! But if your going through Indian status you have to pay 250 upfront or give credit card which we didn't have so had to give cash ,it’s the only place we stayed through Indian status that still made you pay the fee every other hotel just puts it all through we won’t be back there again !

Good morning newfiegirl2013,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We will defintiely have our maintenance team do an inspection on this room. We require a security deposit from all of our guests even when a company is covering the room charges. I can assure you that this is not specific to our guests that travel through Indian status. Thank you again for sharing your feedback, we do appreciate it.

We just came back from a weeks stay at this gem & we would definitely without hesitation stay here again.
I’ve read some of the other reviews on here & it feels like they were not at the same hotel that we were.

My husband & I are quite picky & have stayed at quite a few airbnbs and hotels around the world & this hotel made us quite happy. We both said we’d definitely stay here again when we come back to St Johns.
It was super clean, cozy, had lots to offer with the pool, gym, free parking and free breakfast.
We loved our room & bathroom. The room had everything you could want including a mini fridge, microwave & coffee station, tv, charging stations beside the bed. The lavender & eucalyptus body wash in the shower was well loved by us. I attended a family wedding while here so I was very happy to have an iron & ironing board to press my dress.
We are all about the mattresses too wherever we stay & I always look for comments on that when I read reviews before booking anything & the beds here were good! A little firmer than our dormeo sleep country mattress at home but good! We slept well :)

This hotel is perfectly located to everything as well including the airport.
We took advantage of the free breakfast but also walked to Cora’s down the street & to Jacks at the Capitol across the street.
We def recommend heading to the Newfoundland Distillery and doing a flight of their incredible spirits as well as the Dildo brewing company. We did both in one day & it was really beautiful. The scenery, the drive, the vibe, the flights, the food all amazing!

We can’t wait to come back! Oh! & if your wanting to get screeched in, Christian’s is by far the best! You’ll have the best time there! Anthony Bourdain also chose his place!

Dear Susan S,
What a wonderful review, thank you so much for your kind words. Our staff work so hard to ensure all of our guests have a comfortabel and enjoyable stay and we clearly hit the mark for you. I also love the Newfoundland Distillery and Dildo Brewing Company, and the hour or so drive is definitely worth it. I am glad you experienced a screech-in at Christians, they certainly know how to entertain.
We hope to see you again should your travels bring you back to St. John's, it will be our pleasure to welcome you.

I found this hotel pretty great! It had what we need. Free parking, clean rooms, a pool with a fun slide, and breakfast included. I would have liked healthier breakfast options but the meal was what I would have expected as an “included” breakfast- and my kids loved it!! The front desk staff were fantastic!
