Really Nice Hotel

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Oct 2024via mobile
This hotel was nice and clean. We had a very late check-in, and the front desk clerk was very pleasant. Our room, with the harbour view, was a bit noisy with the loading of ships. We asked to change our room in the late morning at the front desk, and they accommodated us immediately and even offered to move our luggage. We had late night drinks, dessert, and then dinner the next day at the restaurant. The food was good and the service was great. The hotel was nice and the staff were great. They made our short stay in St. John's a success!

Every time my wife and myself go to St. John’s we stay at the Courtyard on Water Street. Wonderful hotel to enjoy St. John’s even more. Roomy modern rooms, some with fridges and microwaves. Excellent views of the narrows of the St. John’s harbour. To top it off the service is amazing. We had the honour of having Teri on the front desk when we checked in. She was friendly, cheerful and helpful. Started our holiday in a first class way. Teri was also helpful during our whole stay. The other staff were also friendly and helpful.
This hotel is strategically located for all places downtown. Excellent walking distance to George Street. #marriottcourtyardstjohns

We arrived in St. John's after a 17 hour ferry ride from Nova Scotia. I had called on our way from Argentia to request an early check-in and they promised to do what they could. We arrived just after 12 pm and our room was ready!!! This made my day as I was able to have quick nap before heading out to enjoy the city. The front desk staff were so incredibly helpful and pleasant to deal with - always greeting us with a cheerful hello and a smile. The location is perfect for walking the city, and visiting Signal Hill and Cape Spear. I would not hesitate to recommend the Courtyard St. John's hotel and we will definitely be back!

Hotel newly renovated, much nicer than current picture on hotel webpage. We have renovated one bedroom suite, has kitchenette with medium fridge with freezer, toaster, dishwasher, plates snd cutlery, convection oven, glasses and Nespresso. There is a King bed and pull out double couch bed. Enormous bathroom with walk in shower.
Best view of harbour for our room (306) and from the bar/restaurant as well. Staff is super friendly and go out of the way to accommodate. Room service menu pretty good too. Entire place is very clean and location perfect for walking the downtown area.

We really enjoyed our 5 night stay at this hotel. We stayed in the newly renovated section of the hotel, in a suite with a harbour view. The room was fresh and clean, and had very comfortable beds. New kitchen appliances in small kitchenette area including full fridge, dishwasher and convection oven in addition to dishes.
The hotel was well located in the downtown area, close to Signal Hill, The Rooms, and local restaurants.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, providing directions to stores in the area, extra towels and amenities for our room in a very timely manner.
The in-house featuring was an extra bonus especially for breakfast.
We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return there on our next visit!

Room tip: Suites in newly renovated section are spacious and well equipped. Pick a harbour view room on upper levels to optimize views

The friendly, helpful staff are the only redeeming feature of this hotel. Clean but very dated room. We had a 'Harbour View' room. In reality this meant a partial view of a flat roof littered with an old screwdrivers, bolts and other detritus, together with a birds-eye view of skips by the harbour front, containers and all the marine support vessels (which we actually found quite interesting). Your experience will be noisy (as the glazing is minimal), with cranes and other vehicles beeping from early until late and vessels coming and going. I could have coped with that but as we were also opposite the elevator and had what appeared to be a small T-Rex stomping around in the room above us meant we were glad to leave.

Room tip: Bring a white noise machine with you.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank-you for your review and for providing comments on your recent stay with us. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay and that you found it noisy. Our location directly in front of the busy port makes this one a little difficult to manage. I am pleased you enjoyed your experiences with our team here, as they do strive to offer the best service possible.
Thank-you again for your comments.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth
