We were there around late Oct, early Nov for a few nights. We checked prices on line at hotel discount websites and found a better price by calling the hotel directly. The hotel's web site would not allow me to book a room. Staff were not sure why.

Upon arrival we noticed another room rate special listed on the menu. We asked for it and got it.

The carpet leading to our room was stained and there was an off odour lingering in the air. Other rooms had an exterior motel-type entrance which is convenient but the paint was peeling from many of those doors.

The beds in our room was very comfortable and provided a great sleep. Room had a microwave and bar fridge. We also got free breakfasts with the room rate special we discovered.

The hotel's pub carpeting and seating felt like they needed a good steam cleaning because of stains and an icky feeling you get when sitting down. The paint and varnish is worn on many surfaces.

Staff were friendly. Service was prompt. Food was good.

Some staff on front desk and in the pub wore jeans that looked untidy as if they had been worn all week.

Hotel is conveniently located. There's a gas station with convenience store nearby. Bank across the street. Pizza take-out not far.

Overall a good stay but the hotel needs to upgrade and to get out the steam cleaner. Some staff need to put on clean, pressed clothes before coming to work.

Room Tip: If you prefer to have a room with its own separate exterior entrance, be sure to ask for it upon arr...

First off I would like to say that the hotel and pub staff were very friendly and accommodating. We stayed at this hotel due to the fact it was close to the Janeway hospital. We were able to check in at dinner time which was great for us after leaving the hospital that morning with our son and needed a place to rest after his surgery. Upon check in, the halls smelled of cigarette smoke, and mold. Not a very appealing way to enter the room you will be staying in for a few days. The hall way to our room was dark and dingy. Our room was so outdated! This hotel needs to do a complete face lift to those rooms! the outside looks beautiful .. very Irish looking but inside, OMG! The carpets should be all taken up and thrown away! my daughters socks were so dirty I had to throw them away! The parking is crazy. We had to drive around for a half hour waiting for a parking spot at this hotel because there was a group of people eating at the pub and most of the parking was taken up by these people. We had an issue with the power tripping when we would use the microwave and the air conditioner in our room as well. We lost all the power in our room due to doing this although it was fixed very fast! Housekeeping was ok. It was very late in the day before anyone would call to see if you wanted your room cleaned. Don't think I would recommend staying here unless you aren't planning on staying in your room for very long. Sorry!

Stayed here 3 nights while visiting the area. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel was not what I expected. Looks like a boutique inn from the internet pictures. It's really an older style motor inn downstairs, parking at the room door. Upstairs (and it was UP a long way) is much the same. Can't believe no elevator. Room was clean but small, bed was comfortable. Everything worked and we had no problems. Reasonably close to downtown, but no restaurants close enough to walk to. Biggest challenge was getting out in the morning - traffic on the street was very heavy, but not a problem at other times. Thought the price was high for what was offered.

The staff is great here. I have no service problems with this hotel. What it needs is a make-over. The rooms are dark and gloomy. It is stuck in that dark period of the sixties. Everything works or gets quickly fixed but, it is all old and outdated. Don't plan to spend a lot of time in your room. You will get depressed. Would be palatable at a lower rack rate.

The Gov'nor Inn has the kindest staff! From the restaurant to the house keeping they're very kind. Our room had very comfy beds and were clean. Sadly the Gov'nor does have some downsides...our room STUNK and I mean it smelled horrible, the house keeping staff were kind enough to try to get the smell out using a machine, it helped a little bit but not as much as I wished. The TV also never worked we could never watch a tv show without connection issues. Personally I felt the price was a bit much for what you get at the inn.
