The Garrison House Inn fell short of expectations. A heritage property lacking in charm and elegance. Decor and room appointments were drab and uninspired. Check-in required repeated rings on a hall bell before a young girl finally appeared. She proved unable to provide any information on local attractions. Room 3 had an adequate bed, and the shower was quite good. However, an ancient air conditioner was very noisy, and the room decor was uninspired. In contrast, the restaurant was excellent, with very friendly waitresses. I enjoyed a very good meal of Digby scallops. The Innkeeper was in evidence that evening, but made no effort to interact with guests. Breakfast the next morning was adequate, but the menu is very limited. Service was poor. The inn is in an excellent location across from the Fort, and within walking distance of the Historic Gardens, which were exceptional. There is good off street parking at the rear of the Inn.
Unfortunately, I found the Garrison Inn to be a not very welcoming place, with substandard accommodations. Regretfully, I cannot recommend a stay there. On the other hand, a meal in the restaurant would be an option worth considering.More
